@SteveHermon I thought the squad was good enough to challenge for the playoffs. Two inexperienced HC’s later they were relegation candidates. It took an insider who knows them to put them back on track and with few exceptions they have performed well since, but Styles stands out for me

My vote… Callum Styles. The most consistent performer across a largely difficult season 🏆 #WBA Honourable mention for George Campbell. Did his best at RB & been immense since moving to his natural position. If there was a most improved award it would absolutely be Diakite.

I’m a fan of O’Leary, he’s reliable and he makes the big save when it’s required of him. His kicking isn’t the best but if we are going to stick with these tactics rather than play out from the back then that’s not a huge issue. I’d seriously consider keeping him! #wba

@_The72 He has served a long and varied apprenticeship at West Bromwich Albion and the Scotland national team under managers at all points along the continuum of competency. If he keeps the Baggies up and, importantly, if he wants the job, then he has earned that chance COYB!

There have been other contenders, namely George Campbell and Jayson Molumby, but nobody has been anywhere near as consistent as Styles for me. And he’s been brilliant at LB, in CM and has even done a job on the LW at times. He’s the clear choice for me! #wba

I’ve been very critical of Mowatt at times this season but that was the best of him yesterday. Creative and a terrier in midfield. A brilliant reaction especially given how little football he’s played in recent weeks. #wba

@RobDorsettSky @JPercyTelegraph @GoldbergRadio @BuzagloToBalis @AliJones9 Hang on - the club had to borrow money BECAUSE Lai had literally stolen (I use that term without hesitation) money from the club with the Wisdom Smart “loan” that was made unlawfully by his stooge (then sole director of the club), Ke Xu, in blatant breach of his fiduciary duty to only act in the best interests of the company (being the football club) which that “loan” made to Wisdom Smart very clearly was not! I sent several emails to Ke Xu about this (I have copies), pointing out his blatant breach of fiduciary duty and demanding to know as a shareholder what he was doing to enforce repayment from Wisdom Smart. Every email was totally ignored. I also sent emails about it to the club’s auditors, Azets (I still have copies) who were obviously very interested. Crucially I sent an email to Rick Parry (Chairman) and Trevor Birch (Chief Executive Officer) of the EFL on 20th January 2023 about Lai’s “loan”, which led to two video calls with their “very interested” colleagues Mark Rowan (Chief Communications Officer) and Nick Craig (Chief Operating Officer) in May 2023 about all the shenanigans. I made them aware of facts regarding the Chinese ultimate beneficial ownership of the club which neither they nor the Premier League (who originally approved Lai as “fit and proper”) knew nothing about. Because of those illegal acts by Xu, as Lai’s puppet, money unlawfully disappeared from the club, leaving it days away from going into administration. If the club may potentially now suffer a points deduction some 3 years later directly because of the club having no option but to pay interest on expensive MSD loans taken out by Lai to literally keep the club in existence because he was unable to repay his own unlawful Wisdom Smart “loan”, then this would be a disgraceful gross injustice by the EFL and must be fully exposed and challenged. No sane person would deem that to a breach worthy of a points deduction. The EFL was made fully aware of the situation regarding that Wisdom Smart loan and if they cannot now locate their emails to refer to, I do still have them all. The EFL has had an absolute stinker here on multiple fronts (as did the Premier League before them) and they need to recognise that and immediately dismiss any charge against the club.

I genuinely can’t believe I’m saying this, but I cannot wait to see the back of this season. It’s right up there with one of the worst we’ve had. An absolute shambles from start to finish. From Mason, to Ramsay, and now this whole points deduction situation… it’s just been chaos at every turn. At this point, it’s not even about anything else. Just stay up, that’s all that matters now. Survive this mess and reset. The only real positive has been Mozza stepping in. He’s given a bit of stability when everything else around the club has been all over the place. Get to the end of this season, regroup, and go again. Because no one connected to this club will want to live through one like this again. #WBA

Ousmane Diakite was nothing short of magnificent tonight. He’s a powerhouse but he’s becoming so much more confident on the ball too, some real moments of quality. That’s the best Dike has played since he came back from injury too, worked hard & caused them problems. #wba
