I had a long term 1099 worker leave recently. He was considerate enough to give me just over weeks notice because our schedule literally revolved around him I was so grateful we ended up paying him his accumulated PTO when he asked about it. Employers used to appreciate their people. Sadly it’s not as common anymore.

My son recently gave his 2 week notice at a retail job he is working. The manager told him his last day would be in a week and that 2 week notice is not customary in retail. My son is pissed because he was counting on the week’s wages. I’m surprised. Is this standard now?

@Houseknech9360 @mmeJen I agree. On the other hand in my experience, 80% of the time, the two weeks notice was just to let you know they'd be showing up not working the next 2 weeks. I started just telling them thank you and that they could go. The other 20% i knew months ahead bc they communicated
