By contrast, 18% of the male prison population overall are incarcerated for sexual offences. This begs the question: why is the rate so disproportionately high among trans identifying males? Yes, the number of trans identifying males in prison is relatively small, but it’s rising. And what matters most is not the size of the group, but the proportion. If 18% of male prisoners are convicted of sexual offences, why are 70% of trans identifying males (trans women) in prison for the same crimes? That percentage should align with the male average , not vastly exceed it. And it's getting worse.
