February 6, 2023… The disaster of the century. We lost tens of thousands of lives, our cities were destroyed. But the strongest force that rose from the ruins was solidarity. Our community kitchens, hot meal trucks, and mobile kitchens worked tirelessly. Mobile toilets, showers, and laundries met the basic needs of our people. In this process, we saw the true strength of supporting one another and healing together. The pain of this loss will never fade, but together, we will continue rebuilding lives. We learned with deep sorrow of the passing of Lebanese Red Cross paramedic Youssef Assaf, who lost his life after being injured when his ambulance was targeted while carrying out his humanitarian duty. We pray for Allah’s mercy upon Youssef Assaf, who dedicated his life to helping people in need, and extend our heartfelt condolences and patience to his family, loved ones, and the Lebanese Red Cross community. As the Turkish Red Crescent, we share the grief of this painful loss and express our solidarity with the Lebanese Red Cross and the entire Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. @RedCrossLebanon

Following the program, we came together with people we serve at an iftar table in Islamabad, and Ramadan food parcels were delivered to those in need. Compliance with international humanitarian law is an obligation for all parties in conflict. Targeting of health facilities, health workers and humanitarians are prohibited under the rules of war. Reported attacks on the Iranian Red Crescent hospitals and facilities, clearly marked with protective emblems is unacceptable.
