@krassenstein It is worth noting that in all other constitutional democracies an originalist approach to interpretation is regarded as ridiculous. Constitutional interpretation in sane countries is adaptive and responsive to the changing mores of the societies in which the text applies

As people debate the Constitution and what's happening in New Mexico with concealed carry, here's a reminder that one of the writers of our Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, thought that we should rewrite the US Constitution every 20 years. His reasoning was that dead people should not rule those who are born after they passed. Here is what Jefferson wrote in a letter to James Madison on Sept 6, 1789: "Every constitution then, and every law, naturally expires at the end of 19 years. If it be enforced longer, it is an act of force, and not of right". Should those who passed away 200+ years ago be dictating gun laws or other laws to us today? For your information I do not think that the New Mexico decision by the governor is a violation of our Constitution. I'm pretty sure Trump might agree with Jefferson here:
