@MyHumanEquation If this was truly a tactic like you're describing I wouldn't work here. Those wouldn't be leaders I personally would want to work for and I just wouldn't want this job. For what it's worth that's an idea of where my personal principles lie, but I completely get the distrust.

The team has been listening and working hard on trying to make League better every single day and sometimes we make some misses. Appreciate every bit of feedback players gave us on this one.

@DumbsYT I personally wouldn't have an issue if they focused only on paid content... IF THE PAID CONTENT WAS GOOD. They should have made passes better when they removed chests, instead they made it way worse! They are just being greedy, that's all, no vision.

@Azzapp_LoL Speaking only for me ofc, but I played since S2 and bought every pass since it existed. The chest removal was what made me stop playing. I don't want to play a game where it's own developers don't seem to believe in its future and see me as only a bag of money

Interesting information, but the game's playerbase fluctuates quite a lot naturally. Can be that chests were completely inconsequential. Or one possibility is that it just tanks for a patch, then rebounds to normal as people get used to the no chest system. Either way, way more info and context is needed. We will know the full impact in a few months.

The org is worried about potential scandal if people act improperly, the staff is worried that if you have young players they won't be able to focus

@Azzapp_LoL Also I wish we could have a statistic of how close the game was to actually ending (nexus exploding). I watch a ton of high elo streams and I see so many surrenders when the enemy team has won the last fight and is literally pushing to end with no one alive

I am actually baffled how many people believe that surrender rate going up following the ladder is some sort of gotcha or an argument. Their Conclusion: High % surr is good. Therefore, we must extrapolate and surrender >40% in bronze. In fact, looking deeper, Korea surrenders even more. Therefore, they have to better. Oh, wait a second, Japan surrenders even more than Korea. It looks like Japan is #1 server, after all. Semi-competent players who think they know when the game is over represent the biggest positive feedback loop that ruins so many games. Perfect players know exactly when the game is over-> diamond/master ego assumes that they know because they are high elo-> give up a perfectly winnable game-> learn nothing, assume they were right because they are not open to being proven wrong and continue to give up. Now I can't believe I actually have to type this up even though we talked about it infinite times. The higher you go in the ladder, surrender vote % will naturally follow. Better players play closer to 100% efficiency. There are way fewer mistakes to be exploited. You get diminishing returns the higher you go if you never surrender, although they never reach 0. A lot of pro players don't care about solo queues and want to practice more early phase and laning. Draft matters a lot more the higher you go. A lot of the games, the outcome is fairly obvious to better players just by observing draft x early game formula. Etc...

They are giving us nerfed chest in 3 months max and people will see it as a win Either that or they have actually gone insane this time and will alienate 80% of the playerbase for a 3% increase in profits

They just need voice chat on 3+ and it would be perfect. Honestly, great change. All the people complaining are self-reporting. How do you even get honour level 1, and if you do, you likely have counterproductive impact in pregame chat.

@AstroxDAce @yootopiya Every pro wants success. But you also need to think about your life after. Pro careers in league are short on average, it makes no sense to take massive paycuts when you have already proven you deserve star contracts.

@RedLoL6 @yootopiya Depending on the pro player they would want success over money, faker and keria want success that’s why when they lose they cry even if it was only semis. They wouldn’t want to go to a team that they already 3 - 0 or 3 - 1 which is basically every team in worlds

i’m a bit lost. i genuinely don’t see why this t1 roster would break up, even if they lose in the finals. they’ve been so successful overall, both competitively and financially. people are talking about pay-cuts, but even if their salaries do take a hit, where else would they go?

play league -> endure solo queue pain -> quit league -> watch worlds -> play league. The cycle cannot stop 💀

As to why Riot didn't do this change directly after the first layoffs I have no idea.

To my understanding, from the people who were let go + Riot's plans with 2025, it seems like the new layoffs are really not a money move. It seems like League let go visual designers to focus on gameplay? It was also only about 30 people, so it matches a few teams moving around.
