So let me get this straight… The street sweeper barely picks up the trash HALF the time… but NOW we trust it with automated surveillance cameras and ticket enforcement? Amazing. The same streets with dust blowing everywhere, garbage still sitting on the curb, potholes everywhere, and somehow the ONLY thing that works efficiently is the system designed to fine working people. Nobody is against clean streets. But New York City’s answer to EVERYTHING cannot keep being: 📷 More cameras 💰 More tickets 👀 More surveillance At some point the citizens stop feeling served… and start feeling hunted. And if this is REALLY about cleanliness and not revenue… Then create an app showing residents EXACTLY where the sweepers are in real time so people can move their cars FAIRLY. But watch… The city will probably find the camera budget before they find the “help residents comply” budget. Because in New York City… Avoiding the ticket is apparently YOUR responsibility.
