@TENTWENTYSIXTY Nope. Either Kerkez or Frimpong/other wingback play this way not both on the pitch at the same time. You play a wingback on one side providing width, a wide centre half on the other, Szoboszlai tucked in on the side with the wingback and a winger on the other.

@RedRhy7 Wont work with kerkez though, szobo would be on the right, so the wingback would be on the right, wirtz middle, barcola or rio lw, kerkez has nowhere to go really, also szobo isnt creative enough for that imo, def not enough for it to be sustainable as a primary plan across a szn

A big part of me wonders whether we will play an asymmetric system next season with either Kerkez or Frimpong high and wide, two midfielders, Szoboszlai playing as a wide playmaker, Wirtz in the middle and an elite one on one winger on the opposite side to the wing back…

@Tyrinko Only sending as quick examples. Don’t think anyone can say currently who will definitely be coming in, especially with uncertainty over the management.

@RedRhy7 Which od these new players are possible in your opinion? I think there could be Senesi instead of Schlotterback/Gomez, Diomande probably staying at Leipzig for one more season.

@Tyrinko Don’t think so. Have to be fluid tactically and probably need two wingers. If Wirtz were to get injured for example you could play Gakpo and a new inside forward and drop Szoboszlai into a midfield 3. Maintains the goal threat whilst also ensuring the midfield is packed

@Tyrinko Similar yes. Although this will be a striker focal point. This keeps Szoboszlai in central areas to create a box midfield and overload central areas, give space for wingers and wingbacks to take their men on and focus on feeding the elite finishers we spent so much money on!

I think this is the best way to utilize the current squad while in transition and without having to spend another £400million this summer. Similar system to what City play but instead of the fullback inverting into midfield they become the touch line wingback #LFC

This would require a metronome (Wharton) alongside a high energy midfielder (Camara), an elite dribbler out wide (Rio/Diomande/Barcola) and wide centre backs capable of playing fullback (Jacquet/Gomez, Schlotterbeck/Gvardiol/Van de Ven)…
