ZA/UM, the studio behind Disco Elysium, has announced layoffs after the poor commercial performance of its latest game, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies. The studio says up to 32 employees across all departments are affected. While Zero Parades received positive reviews from critics, ZA/UM said its sales weren’t strong enough to support the studio at its current size. In its statement, ZA/UM said the layoffs change “the shape of the studio, but not its purpose.”

It is cheap. Cheaper than some things like Nintendo. Cheaper For the power than a PC. But really all gaming is cheap as hell now days I don’t get why people say it’s expensive. I have a library of games I would have killed to have as a kid and got it all for so cheap most the games on sale for a few dollars. A lot included with psn

The European Commission says it cannot stop Sony from ending physical PlayStation games. In response to questions from a Member of the European Parliament, the Commission said companies are “free to offer games and services in the manner that they see fit,” as long as they follow existing consumer protection laws. The Commission also said it has no legal basis to require companies to keep selling physical games or force them to support a specific business model. Instead, it will continue monitoring the market and enforce EU consumer protection rules where necessary.

Probably the same reasons anyone’s been playing one for the last ten years. Most people don’t buy physical. It seems like almost everyone that didn’t want a PlayStation anyways will still not buy a PlayStation so no big loss there. All video games suck now days if your going To play them PlayStation is still a good cheap console

@kimiyoribaka @Pirat_Nation With low quality memory I meant ones with slower speed, there's also lower speed nvme drives. That's why Ps5's didn't accept all nvme ssd's.

@RedScience248 @Pirat_Nation There's no such thing as low quality memory, and the aspects of memory that would matter have been mostly standardized for decades. Storage can matter, but in practice it doesn't. Besides, Valve went with the fastest current type of storage (NVMe SSD).

@Pirat_Nation Loading times aren't really the fault of the machine anymore, and they haven't been since the tape cassette days. I would hope the head of a tech company known for video games would know that.

Just a reminder that I am only able to own and to personally preserve the quite rare Godzilla PS4 game because of physical media. It was delisted from the PlayStation Store less than two years after it released and hasn’t been ported to modern platforms.
