They will be beloved here. All the games are in LA and Seattle, which have larger communities. I have tickets to one of the games. The real thing going on right now is the IRGC does not want the players to protest and embarrass them. So they suffer. It sucks because this is a career achievement for the players. I don’t care what people’s political views are, but I do feel for the Iranians who achieved the highest level of their career and the Iranians at home who could use the joy of watching their team participate in the World Cup

They protested their own gov in last world cup. Would guess 90% of team is opposed to IRGC. They may not like the war, but they want the IRGC out. They stand with their people and allowing them to go to world cup would be allowing them to bring joy to their people (IRGC doesnt believe in iranian people or joy, only supression) By not allowing them to participate, they are being punished by IRGC and only dumbest people fall for it. theguardian.com/football/2022/…
