I’m embarrassed asf to post this, but HELP. How do I make this stop? I clean it for her, it still ends up like this.. she cleans it, she cries about it and it still ends up like this.. I’m OVER it. I tried grounding her. Taking electronics. Cleaning it for her. Helping her clean it. & NOTHING.PHASES.HER. She genuinely doesn’t care. I told her yesterday “if your room doesn’t get cleaned today, you’re grounded” she looked at me and said “ok? I don’t care.” I even asked to remove it because once a person came to us for an order that they ordered from my store, Tedooo app, it was such a shame that the buyer accidentally saw it. We don’t live nasty. Our house is always spotless. HOW DO I GET MY GrandKID TO JUST KEEP A CLEAN DANG ROOM? She’s 8 if that makes any difference for any type of tips, ya girl is tired.........

Consider yourself lucky, it's not like that everywhere. My property taxes are like $400/mo then add another $120/mo for water. Both go up each year by around 10%. If you have property in an unorganized township it's better, tax is only $100/year. That's more reasonable but hard to find now. I managed to find 40 acres in one so plan to move there eventually so that I can have more breathing room financially and not need to work the rest of my life.

@RedSquirrelFtw @krassenstein Canada produces roughly 2.5 million barrels of refined petroleum, including gasoline every day at 16 refineries. We are a net exporter of gas. Not refining it must mean something different where you are.

Property tax is just a tax on unrealized gains and I'm tired of pretending it's not. You buy a house for $300k. Years later, market goes up, assessor says it's worth $600k now. Boom—your tax bill jumps, even though you haven't sold a damn thing, pulled equity, or seen a dime of cash from that "gain." You're paying every year on paper wealth that only exists on Zillow or some county spreadsheet. We lose our minds when politicians float taxing unrealized stock gains for billionaires ("muh forced sales!"), but grandma gets hit with the same thing on her family home and we're supposed to call it "paying for schools and roads"? Nah. It's a wealth tax dressed up as a service fee, and it only feels fair because we've normalized it for centuries. Once the mortgage is paid off, you should OWN it outright—no annual ransom to the county just because your neighborhood got trendy. Abolish property taxes on primary residences. Tax consumption if you must, but stop pretending "ownership" means you rent from the government forever.
