When SWers say they have more freedom or feel less exploited by SW than, say, retail or food service, it’s NOT saying SW is empowering. It’s saying retail, food service etc. are *extremely* exploitative.

In Sweden, after 25+ years of the Nordic Model, authorities decide who is ‘trafficked’ (& therefore deserving of resources & protection) based on whether the survivor ‘cooperates’ with the police.
If they don’t cooperate, they’re vulnerable to deportation & criminal charges.

Rita thinks this person must have who reported her to the police. This might also have been the person who has repeatedly reported her to social services. More and more people in Sweden, in fact a majority, now want to criminalise sex workers, as well as buyers.

Sex workers in Sweden are complaining about discrimination, evictions, deportations, violence, threats. The ministry of equality reports that as many people pay for sex now as 7 years ago (with an increase in clients under 25). Swe government: The law is a success!

most sex workers I know, from online to fssw, are chronically ill. this job allows us to create our own accommodations and the ability to make good $$ while taking breaks we need! can’t really prioritize your chronic illness in most 9-5s without it ultimately hurting your career :(
