NEBRASKA. A judge ruled against Dem activist Cindy Burbank (D) - a supporter of indy candidate Dan Osborne - in her effort to get back on Dem US Sen primary ballot. With her out, pro-life pastor Bill Forbes, a supporter of US Sen Pete Ricketts (R), is unopposed for the Dem nom.

NEBRASKA. Sec of State Bob Enven (R) disqualified Cindy Burbank (D) from the US Senate primary ballot because she is openly supporting Dan Osborne (I) in the race. Burbank, backed by the Dems, is suing to be restored; says law doesn't provide for disqualification for her motives.

@RedVictoryGop @tencor_7144 A pro-life spoiler candidate that supports Pete Ricketts but has the "Democrat" label and will soak up 5% of the vote at least.

Before everyone freaks out, all of the legislators retiring are NOT in flippable districts, as long as a decent conservative candidate steps up to run. For example, Rep. Rick Gundrum is in a safe R district. A good conservative candidate already stepped up to run for Vos’s district (Union Grove Village President Steve Wicklund). LeMahieu’s district is probably safe. Petersen’s is tougher but not lost. It’s also not uncommon to have this many retiring legislators actually. But there are a couple retirements that do increase the chances of Democrats flipping the state legislature. One is the Sen. Rob Hutton seat in Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties. However, a very strong moderate conservative candidate has stepped forward (Dr. Mike Roberts) to run against leftist Rep. Robyn Vining for that senate seat. The Roberts election is critical. He fits this district, which includes parts of Wauwatosa and West Allis as well as swaths of more conservative Waukesha County. If people in the Milwaukee metro area want to do something to help, engage in the Mike Roberts race. Secondly, the Van Wanggaard retirement down in Racine also hurts. I get why he did it; not criticizing him due to his family tragedies. But that is a swing seat in the state Senate, and the power of incumbency helped. But there’s no question that this represents a seismic shift in leadership, minimally. I am not very happy with LeMahieu right now anyway because he killed a First Amendment and free speech protection bill (largely because one guy emotionally opposed it because of a personal disagreement, Sen. Cory Tomczyk.) Not the first good bill LeMahieu let die either. And I know some are unhappy with him for other reasons. So maybe a new leader will be good in the state senate anyway. Many people believe Republicans have a good chance of at least keeping control of the Assembly, though.
