“We don’t understand just how powerful this moment was” I need everyone to seriously think about this. What Cloud & Aerith did in this scene was an act of defiance. Cloud & Aerith love each other very much. They perfectly complement each other. Each one of their strengths compliments the others weakness. They complete one another. And yet fate, along with their enemies have done everything to keep them apart. In spite of all Cloud & Aerith have been dealt, they have continually defied the odds. Cloud even defies fate and creates a new world where he saves Aerith from her fateful end. Then they both stand together side by side to face their greatest enemy together. Having held back Sephiroth, and defying fate at least for now, Cloud & Aerith reach for each other. And in between worlds so that all the universe can see, they interlock their fingers in defiance against fate. Declaring to the universe that absolutely nothing on the planet or in the universe will separate them. Nothing will keep them apart no matter what fate, or Sephiroth has planned. Cloud and Aerith will always hold on to each other and never let go! Thanks for Reading! #NeverLetGo #NPTK #Clerith4Evermore #Clerith #FFVII #FFVIIRebirth #KoibitoTsunagi

@Moon_x_Cat @CourtneyWest19 Yeah, but I’m sure the next thing they’ll be doing is going around claiming that we infiltrated SE and Hamaguchi is our plant, to ensure we get the outcome we want. Sounds far-fetched doesn’t it but these people are crazy enough to actually think that.🤣

"Why CAs gotta steal Tifa's scenes?!?" We're not? 😂 The devs are the ones giving them to us. The water tower happened. They're pretty much saying the LSS will involve Aerith and Zack this time. None of us asked for this nor did we expect them. But it's really funny.

I actually have been trying to say this for the longest time and having played OG when it was first released January 1997 I could tell you first hand that the game direction and the story plots were always centered around C&A, and never once did they ever truly indicate that Cloud & Tifa were ever a thing. Granted you had some choices along the way, and if you tried to get Tifa for the GSD you could, but when I say you could try, you literally had to practically alienate Aerith to even give yourself a chance to get Tifa otherwise Aerith would always be the default date at the GS. I will have more to say about this because I am currently working on a thread I’m going to be posting soon about this very subject, but there was never an LTD to begin with and part of the reason SE has never really bothered to get into any kind of details regarding the LTD is because their content between the game material, the companion guides and novels have always only supported one couple and that couple was never Cloud and Tifa.

This is from Final Fantasy VII Dismantled/Complete. It was published in 1997 as a companion guide to the game. Published by Bentstuff Studios, and supervised by SE it’s set the standard for companion guides that would later lead to the FFVII Ultimania’s. Bentstuff Studios still makes the Ultimania’s for SE however, SE now directly publishes them.

I understand how you feel but one thing I also think is important to keep in mind, especially when looking at this particular interview, is that Hamaguchi already clarified the reasoning behind the title revelation. In which he stated all things would be revealed in this final installment, all truths, the culmination of the entire story and narrative and direction was gonna be revealed in this third and decisive installment. I think that is saying something because if he says all things all questions are gonna be revealed then he is basically saying everything that has ever been brought up throughout The entire compilation is going to get answered in revelation. and the story and question of Cloud’s Love interest is a major point. so I don’t think he would say all things would be revealed in this third and final installment, but they leave that one question unanswered. I don’t even think that makes sense. I know they can’t come out and just directly say it before the games releases, but I think in this case we have to give them a little latitude. Hamaguchi also said that there wouldn’t be multiple endings and you can’t end something by leaving things unanswered. A conclusion is exactly that it concludes and ends the story. I trust what Hamaguchi is saying. I have faith in what they said they are going to do and I believe that it is incumbent for all of us to give a little latitude and have faith. Of course you’re under no obligation to take my advice. I’m just trying to give some thoughtful encouragement. Again, hope that helps…

Here is our answer. No endgame for any ship, but it will be ambigious and up to player interpretation. This fandom will be plagued by shipwars for many years to come😆 But it also means we will get out fair share of CA content in this game too yaay!!

He decided to insert revelation in a question that doesn’t talk about it. He talked about player choice before but makes a distinction that revelation might be different and I LOVE that! MY HOPE METER IS GOING OVERDRIVE!!!

Hamaguchi was asked about player choice in PREVIOUS GAMES AND SPINOFFS But don’t think I didn’t peep how he made a distinction about player choice in the previous games and how we should play revelation (because it might be different?) 👀❤️

One of the most interesting moments from today's fan meeting came when Naoki Hamaguchi was asked about Cloud's romantic relationships in Final Fantasy VII. His answer may shed light on a question many fans have debated for years.

This is a debate has frustrated me over the years, because the game data the supporting material from companion guides and ultimania’s have never said anything close to this. Cloud strife does not have any of Zack‘s emotions any of Zack‘s feelings, any of Zack‘s personality or character. And the contrary to popular belief, he doesn’t even have Zack‘s memories. Clouds alter ego is made up of three parts. The first part is made up of stories and events that cloud experienced in which he either heard the story from Zack or watched Zack during the event. The second part is based off of cloud’s own insecurities of himself, not wanting to be a failure and wanting to be someone looked up to like a hero. The third and final part, which is actually the most important part, is Tifa’s memories the events that cloud remembers are based off of Tifa‘s memories. The rest are stories for which Cloud was told or is a twisting of his own memories in which he is substituting himself in place of Zack.

I really try to be open minded but HOLY. This only works if we pretend Cloud is literally half-Zack, which he OBVIOUSLY isn’t. His false persona is still Cloud’s trauma-built identity, not Zack possessing him or acting through him. Reassigning Cloud’s feelings and actions to “the Zack-half” just erases Cloud’s agency to force a Zack/Aerith conclusion. The story’s point is that Aerith sees through the persona and wants to meet Cloud, not that she is secretly connecting to Zack through him. Is this what the devs want for their open interpretation? I really want to know.
DirkEZM@DirkEZM

There are definitely strong feelings involved; whether it’s love or if Cloud just likes Aerith is hard to say. However, one must remember that Zack's persona has overwritten Cloud's identity, leaving Cloud's psyche deeply fractured. If anyone saved Aerith in the Forgotten Capital, it was the Zack-half, while the actual Cloud-half failed. On a spiritual level, Aerith's spirit can continue to live through this and return to Zack in the Lifestream during #FFVIIR #FF7R Revelation, while her physical body has died on the surface.

I understand where you’re coming from. The way I would explain it would be to use this example. If you came to an apartment that you knew you had loved ones living in and it was on fire, your immediate instinct would be to rush in to go and save your loved ones. You wouldn’t be thinking about the others in the building and that’s not because you don’t care about the others, but because your first priority is going to be to the ones that you love, it is for them that compels you to run into the face of danger. However, your compassion would never let you pass someone while you were in there that needed saving if you saw someone that was trapped in the fire and they needed help while you were looking for your loved ones you wouldn’t ignore them and not try to save them. You would save them and yes in doing so with that cause a delay in you getting to your loved ones possibly, but your compassion wouldn’t just stand idly by and let them suffer. You would do everything in your power to save them and still try and save your loved ones, but it is because of your loved ones that you made the decision to rush into the building in the first place. That is the difference between cloud and Zack. Zack wants to be a hero and because of this, he believes that it’s necessary for a hero to save everyone. This causes him to be indecisive when it comes to who he should save first. It’s not a bad thing because it does show that he cares, but it is also a flaw that holds him back. Cloud never wanted to be a hero, but when it comes to those that he loves and cares, for he will run into the face of danger for them without hesitation. but he is also kind and is one of the most generous people in the game because he truly has a desire to be wanted and needed by people so when he sees someone in distress, he doesn’t hesitate to help them because it’s in his nature to do so but not because he’s seeking glory or fame. It’s because he has a heart that is beautiful. All I was saying is that in chapter 14 clouds focus was to find and rescue Aerith. That was his number one goal. if he had managed to take a route to get to the plate that did not put him in the middle of sector five where he saw the people’s needs he would have stayed laser focus on the goal of finding Aerith. However, it is his compassion and his generosity that would not just let him go through sector five seeing what everyone was going through as well as Walmarket and not help them. So the point I was making is not about what they would actually do. It simply is their focus that makes them either decisive or indecisive. And this is a contrast that SE wanted to show in order to separate what makes Cloud the hero versus Zack, who is trying very hard to be the hero.

@cosmic_bomb777 @RedWolfXIII Hmm, I disagree, but that's my interpretation. In Nibelheim, for example, he first thought of helping his mother and Tifa, and didn't try to rescue the others (though we haven't seen it in the remake yet; maybe SE will change that).

Now I would like everyone to understand something. And I in no way shape or form am claiming that Zack is a bad person for his indecision in this scene, I simply want to make a comparison so you could see the contrast between him and Cloud. If Cloud was in the same situation and the choice was between Biggs, Zack and Aerith, this would be absolutely a no-brainer for Cloud. Cloud would choose Aerith without hesitation. And that is not because Cloud doesn’t care for anyone else. Because Cloud out of all the characters in this game has one of the most compassionate and generous hearts in all of Final Fantasy VII. Even with his cold exterior, he still has one of the kindest hearts in the game. The fact still remains, though, Aerith is the most important thing to him. She is first above all else, including himself, and when it comes to her safety and protection, Cloud won’t hesitate to put her first in everything. My point is, rather than focus on Zack‘s indecision in this scene, understand the contrast between the two and why Cloud and Aerith’s relationship are so different so unique and so special.

Aerith her whole life, ran her identity from her Cetra heritage and treated it as a burden or shame that she bore, because of how she was treated shunned rejected & isolated, used to the point that she looked at her Cetra heritage as a burden, a curse. However, it is through the relationships She forms with the others. Barrett, Tifa, Cid, Vincent, Nanaki, Yuffie, Cait Sith, and more importantly Cloud. she learns to accept herself and to fully embrace her role as a Cetra and it is through that she came to the understanding of what she needed to do, and the realization that she was the only one that could do it. However, something needs to be clear, Aerith did not need to go to the forgotten city alone. Yes, was she the only one who could pray for holy? yes, that is absolutely clear. However, she actually would’ve been better off if the group had come with her because she would be vulnerable while she was praying and would need to be guarded and protected while she was praying. You see a resemblance of this in rebirth at the temple of the ancients when she begins to use her powers for the first time and it drains her to the point she has to lay down and rest. If memory serves me correctly, the group separated in that moment so that some of them could stay behind and look after Aerith while her body was recovering. So we have to assume that if the group had gone with her to the forgotten city in OG, they would have been able to guard her while she was praying. However, her discovery that Cloud was being manipulated by Sephiroth changed things. She sensed Cloud’s mind was fragile & ready to break. after the incident which resulted in him attacking her. She couldn’t afford to risking Cloud. She loved Cloud. as the book says he represented what was most precious to her and something she needed to protect so the planet in that moment became synonymous with Cloud’s safety as well. So to make sure Sephiroth couldn’t cause Cloud any further harm, she chose to leave the group and go to the forgotten city alone. She knew the risk but Cloud was worth it. Case in point her reason for going to the forgotten city alone was solely because of her desire to save the man that she loved. I think you have to look at this through the lenses of two perspectives. one is about saving the planet, The other is about saving cloud just as she says in rebirth. It’s not about me though it’s about saving the planet and you.

Aerith and Tifa’s roles in FF7 are both important, but I don’t think they are equal in narrative weight. The difference is that Aerith has to make a choice against her own heart. After the Temple of the Ancients, Aerith leaves Cloud behind and goes to the City of the Ancients. She does not do this because she wants to be separated from Cloud or her friends. She does it because she is the last Cetra, because only she can pray for Holy, and because the Planet’s survival demands it. Aerith wants connection. She wants to stay. She wants to meet Cloud again. But she still walks away. That is sacrifice. Tifa’s choice in Mideel is different. She chooses to stay with Cloud, and that choice is emotionally important. She helps him reconstruct himself, remember who he really is, and return to the fight. But Tifa’s role depends on Cloud becoming the hero again. Aerith does not simply support the hero. Aerith steps into the role only she can fulfill. She becomes the sacrifice. Her contribution is direct, spiritual, and world-saving. So yes, Tifa helps restore Cloud. But Aerith saves the Planet at the cost of her own desires. That does not make Tifa unimportant. It just means their burdens are not the same. Tifa gets to follow her heart, and the story rewards that choice. Aerith has to give up her heart, and the story makes that sacrifice the key to the world’s survival. That is not equal. One heroine helps the hero return. The other heroine gives herself to save the world.
✨️Stardust Seeker✨️@seekthestardust

Aerith and Tifa's roles as FF7's dual heroines are reflected in the choices they make at the story's most important crossroads. After the Temple of the Ancients, Aerith chooses to leave Cloud behind and go to the City of the Ancients to pray for Holy, putting the Planet's survival above her personal desires. That decision ultimately leads to Holy and the lifestream stopping Meteor, thus preventing the destruction of the world. In Mideel, Tifa is faced with a different choice. She can join the others in gathering the Huge Materia or remain with the near-comatose Cloud. She chooses Cloud. That decision ultimately leads to the Lifestream Sequence, where she helps him reconstruct his true identity and return to the fight, enabling him to defeat Sephiroth. Nobody else could cast Holy except Aerith; she's the last Cetra. Nobody else could help Cloud piece himself back together except Tifa; only she knew the real Cloud well enough to navigate his memories. Neither one is more important than the other. Their contributions are different, but both are indispensable. One heroine protects the Planet. The other heroine restores the hero. FF7 needs both. #FF7 #TifaLockhart #AerithGainsborough

The truth is these CT’s are Tifa simps. And they don’t know anything really about Cloud. They don’t really care about him. they’ve probably never actually played OG or truly paid any attention to the content throughout the Remake trilogy, or even the supporting material such as the novels or the companion guides. They have created this whole illusion based off of the people that came before them who gaslit the whole fandom into believing this CT nonsense. To the point that they see what they want to see instead of actually paying attention to what’s actually happening. that’s why the Remake trilogy is such a shock to their system, because they made up all these ideas in their mind and Remake is taking a wrecking ball to their delusions. SE deserves a standing ovation. Thank you Hamaguchi, thank you Nojima, thank you Kitase, and thank you Nomura.👏👏👏👏👏👏

This really shows how gaslighting new players into believing Cloud and Tifa's relationship is primarily romantic is harmful to the experience of playing these games before OG. Their dynamic is interesting exactly because there's this tension between them due to unspoken truths, unrealistic expectations and tiptoeing around each other, not because they're a perfect match, or soulmates, or in love since childhood. The LSS reveal that Cloud was ignored and shunned, that the Emilio that was such a close friend to Tifa never accepted Cloud into their friend group, as well as Tifa herself is what scenes like this and the Gongaga one are building up to. Giving up on a game because the character doesn't act like one side of the fandom made you believe he should is crazy. Cloud and Tifa's relationship does not represent the love story within the games, it is intrinsically linked to Cloud's traumas, identity crisis, the mystery revolving his character and his arc of accepting himself. Cloud is not being rude here, in fact, he is being very honest and considerate while Tifa (unknowingly) brings up a hurtful memory by talking about someone that rejected him as a child and contributed to him wishing he was somebody he is not. This is why I say FF7's story is way too complex for the average videogame player who goes in thinking what they see is what they get.
Reunited 🌍☁️@AerithCloud3

This CT streamer dropped rebirth after this scene (I’m not joking) they really stopped playing the game afte this, I respect their decision, but CT relationship is not good or a great love story at all.
