WHY DOES ETHIOPIA SUPPORT GENOCIDE IN SUDAN? How did the host of the @_AfricanUnion become a staging ground for a g*nocide against indigenous Africans? Under @AbiyAhmedAli, Ethiopia is supporting the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. Reuters reported on a secret training camp for the RSF in the Benishangul region of western #Ethiopia that borders Sudan, with the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab exposing how an #Ethiopian army base is being used to assist the militia. In addition, Ethiopia is serving as the primary transit hub for Emirati weapons to the RSF, making it an active participant in the destruction of Sudan. Since 2018, the UAE has functioned as Ethiopia’s financial lifeline. But this billions-of-dollars in "assistance" comes with a blood-stained price tag: supporting Abu Dhabi’s sub-imperial project. The UAE’s goal is extraction: loot Sudan’s gold, seize its agricultural wealth and control its strategic Red Sea ports. To achieve this, they have turned Ethiopia into a corridor for weapons used to perpetrate g*nocide. Nonetheless, Ethiopia is just one piece of a "Ring of Fire" the UAE has built around Sudan by leveraging its petro-dollars. On #Sudan's western border, Chad operates as a supply hub under the guise of "humanitarian aid," even as the RSF kills the Chadian President’s own kin. On Sudan's northern border, territory controlled by Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army, an Emirati proxy, is used to funnel arms. On Sudan's southern borders, the Central African Republic and South Sudan serve as logistical chains for the RSF. The RSF have found support in the Horn of Africa too. #Kenya and #Uganda hosted the militia. The autonomous Puntland region of #Somalia was used to facilitate RSF supplies. But after Somalia kicked out the UAE for violating its sovereignty, Ethiopia became the indispensable gateway for the UAE's project. This is the ultimate betrayal of #PanAfricanism. Abiy Ahmed is participating in a cycle where African states destroy one another to benefit an external master. When sovereignty is for sale to the highest bidder, the scramble for Africa never ends. #AfricanUnion #Djibouti #Egypt Source: Sovereign Media

ETHIOPIA ― ⚡️PM Abiy Ahmed keeps selling the story that #Ethiopia has cracked wheat self-sufficiency and is even "exporting" surplus. 🫣 Sounds impressive. Unfortunately, the receipts aren’t matching the speech. The Economist and U.S. agencies have already poked holes in the numbers, and once your stats are competing with Russia, you’re not convincing anyone, you’re entertaining them. So Marco Rubio, who’s not buying the fairytale, steps in with a pretty reasonable question: if the country is that self-sufficient, why is it still heavily dependent on U.S. food aid? The answer from the State Department is, therefore, time for a “responsible transition,” pushing both the Abiy Ahmed government and other donors to share more of the burden. But not everyone agrees on this shift to end Ethiopia food aid. Jeanne Shaheen, top Democrat on the US Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, has pushed back, warning that cutting aid could trigger a humanitarian disaster. And the data backs her up, with the Famine Early Warning Systems Network says food aid needs in the country could jump from about 9 million people to 16 million by July. So much for the export boom. So the real question is, either PM Abiy Ahmed is exporting wheat … or importing reality. "በአፍ ይጠፉ በለፈለፉ" ... 😂 semafor.com/article/05/01/…

Mischaracterizations Surrounding Prospects for Eritrea–United States Rapprochement Embassy of the State of Eritrea Washington DC 29 April 2026 *"...While the (Wall Street Journal) article acknowledges Eritrea’s strategic importance in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea corridor, it advances selective narratives with the evident intention of undermining the timely opportunity for constructive engagement. Indeed, and in the same vein, certain, self-styled, pundits have subsequently reverted to alarmist interpretations across media and social platforms, recycling discredited claims and attempting to cast unwarranted doubt on any positive trajectory in Eritrea–U.S. relations. Such commentaries are neither objective nor constructive; essentially, they represent hired lobbyist advocacies disguised as 'independent' analysis". *"...Eritrea has consistently upheld territorial integrity, international law, and peaceful coexistence. Its regional policy has been guided by, and is anchored on, legitimate security considerations and a clear commitment to stability in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea basin. The repeated efforts by some voices to suggest otherwise, often in inflammatory tones, amount to little more than noise intended to distract from substantive policy discussions". shabait.com/2026/04/29/mis…

Sovereignty vs. Hegemonic Ambition: Ethiopia’s Expansionist Quest for Outlet to the Sea Ministry of Foreign Affairs Research and Documentation Division 29 April 2026 The PP's deliberate conflation of commercial needs with territorial expansion – shifting from commercial 'access', to claims of 'ownership' ... to challenging 'the very legitimacy of Eritrean statehood' is not a matter of economic necessity and/or securing digital privacy. It is, rather, an obsolete hegemonic aspiration deeply woven into the very nature of the current Ethiopian regime. Such a stance represents a flagrant violation of international law and the African Union’s core principle on the sanctity of inherited colonial borders". shabait.com/2026/04/29/sov…

Press Statement Mischaracterizations Surrounding Prospects for Eritrea-United States #Rapprochement The #Embassy of the State of #Eritrea in Washington, D.C. takes note of the recent article published by The Wall Street Journal on prospects for resetting relations between Eritrea and the United States. While the article acknowledges Eritrea's strategic importance in the #Horn of #Africa and the #RedSea corridor, it advances selective narratives with the evident intention of undermining the timely opportunity for constructive engagement. Indeed, and in the same vein, certain, self-styled, pundits have subsequently reverted to alarmist interpretations across media and social platforms, recycling discredited claims and attempting to cast unwarranted doubt on any positive trajectory in Eritrea-U.S. relations. Such commentaries are neither objective nor constructive; essentially, they represent hired lobbyist advocacies disguised as "independent" analysis. A fundamental reality must be recognized. Decades of pressure, sanctions, and isolation have not produced positive outcomes, neither for #US policy objectives nor for regional stability. There is now increasing acknowledgment, even within U.S. policy circles, that a shift towards engagement, rather than misplaced and unwarranted coercion, is both necessary and overdue. Attempts by some commentators to portray this shift as dangerous reveal more about entrenched biases than about actual conditions on the ground. The persistence of such narratives, often repeated loudly on social media without evidence, reflects a deliberate effort to obstruct progress rather than inform public understanding. Eritrea's position has been consistent and principled. Since independence, it has pursued a policy anchored in #sovereignty, non-interference, and an independent development policy that eschews structural and perpetual dependency. Eritrea does not subscribe to dependency-based models. Instead, it promotes mutually beneficial partnerships rooted in trade, investment, and respect for national ownership of development priorities; an approach aligned with evolving global trends. Attempts by certain analysts to caricature this policy orientation only expose a lack of seriousness and analytical rigor. Assertions that improved relations would embolden instability lack credibility. Eritrea has consistently upheld territorial integrity, international law, and peaceful coexistence. Its regional policy has been guided by, and is anchored on, legitimate security considerations and a clear commitment to stability in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea basin. The repeated efforts by some voices to suggest otherwise, often in inflammatory tones, amount to little more than noise intended to distract from substantive policy discussions. Equally flawed is the narrative that lifting unilateral U.S. sanctions would have negative consequences. These measures were unwarranted, selectively applied, and counterproductive. They neither advanced peace nor served strategic interests. Their continued defense by a narrow circle of commentators, despite clear evidence of their legality and utility, raises questions about the motivation behind such positions. As pronounced on several occasions, Eritrea has always been keen to cultivate a respectful, forward-looking, and constructive engagement based on mutual respect, non-coercion, and sovereign equality. The path forward requires moving beyond ineffective policies and dismissing unproductive narratives, particularly those amplified by the whimsical intent of certain individuals bent on derailing progress. A balanced, fact-based, approach will better serve both nations and contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.

The people of #Eritrea have endured profound challenges over the past 35 years. Difficult as these experiences have been, they have also served as an awakening. They revealed not only the strength and resilience of a determined people, but also exposed deep flaws and contradictions within the global order...where principles are often applied selectively, and narratives can overshadow facts. Enduring truth ultimately outlasts manufactured narratives, reducing them to noise rather than substance...Happy 35th Independence Anniversary #EritreaAt35

Great to catch up with Ms. Nahla Valji, UN Resident Coordinator in #Eritrea, during her short visit to New York. Our discussions reviewed the current portfolio of development projects and underscored the importance of aligning support with #Eritrea|s nationally defined priorities and long-term vision. We also explored opportunities to deepen engagement in key sectors such as #tourism, an area with significant untapped potential, given #Eritrea’s rich cultural heritage, pristine coastline, and unique historical assets, including the #UNESCO-listed city of #Asmara. Strengthening partnerships in this space can serve as a catalyst for sustainable growth and job creation.

So by mutual consent Cameron Hudson and the Institute of Foreign Affairs @ifa_ethiopia (aka Abiy's mouth piece) have agreed to delete the incriminating post in X, of Cameron coaching the minions on how to pretend #Ethiopia has a stake in the #RedSea. Their deletion of the post makes them even more guilty than the original posting. They know they are doing wrong! Blind leading the Blind! Going nowhere!

The central question should not be why U.S. sanctions on Eritrea might be lifted, but why the unilateral sanctions imposed by the administration of Joe Biden were imposed in the first place. The administration of Barack Obama used its influence at the UNSC to push unjust and unfair sanctions on #Eritrea in 2009 and again in 2011. When those UN sanctions were lifted in 2018, during the first administration of @realDonaldTrump , the Biden administration later introduced a new round of unilateral sanctions in 2022. Consider the grotesque image this presents: one of the richest and most powerful nations in the world (lead by Obama and Biden) suffocating economically a small, poor, and young #African nation for decades. How such a policy can be justified under any circumstances is mind bendingly inexcusable . At the same time, Eritrea’s endurance under sustained pressure is a confirmation of the country’s resilience—its ability to remain stable, self-reliant, and at peace despite persistent external pressure.

Every time a resetting of US-Eritrea relationship is brought to the news, it is curious to watch the usual 'Pundits, analysts, experts, politico-journalists, African-parasites'( aptly referred by @hawelti as እፍሊ ሓንጨመንጪ) with vested interests come-out of the wood-work and make all sorts of noise to detract and derail any possible diplomatic-relations. For the perceptive political observer, their tantrums only confirms, if a strong relationship between US and Eritrea is established, these group of people has a lot to loose. Otherwise, why would you be so bothered by two countries establishing a good relations. P.S Abiy and PPs do not count, they are merely acting as jealous jilted GF/BF. They have nothing to bring to the table.

Some countries are known more by what is said about them than by what is experienced within them. Eritrea reminded me of the distance between those two things. This was my first visit. We came to deepen dialogue, move projects forward, and understand where partnership can go further. The work itself was clear: Energy, transport, financial sector modernization, skills development. But the experience unfolded differently. It felt personal. H.E. Mr. Hagos Gebrehiwet, the President’s Senior Advisor, made things possible in ways that are not always visible, but are always felt — clearances, access, responsiveness. The kind of support that builds real momentum. Hon. Dr. Giorgis Teklemikael, Minister of Finance and National Development, gave us his time beyond protocol. He walked with us through discussions, joined site visits, hosted dinner, and created space for honest, constructive conversation. We also engaged deeply with: • Hon. Dr. Halima Mohammed, Minister of Education • Hon. Arefaine Berhe, Minister of Agriculture • Hon. Alem Kibreab, Acting Minister of Mines and Energy • Mr. Aynom Berhane, Director General, National Statistics Office Each showed ownership and commitment to progress. Special appreciation to Ms. Nahla Valji, UN Resident Coordinator, for bringing together partners from UNDP, UNICEF, IFAD and others. Eritrea is often seen from a distance, sometimes misunderstood. On the ground, what you find is effort — deliberate, steady, and real. A country working in its own way and at its own pace to build something durable. It is a privilege for the @AfDB_Group to partner with Eritrea on this journey. A partnership built on trust, and one we don’t take lightly. We left with concrete next steps — including greenfield renewable solar power plants in Tesseney, Kerkebet and Berantu, plus financial sector modernization. But more than projects, we take a deeper understanding of the country and quiet reassurance that respectful, patient partnership finds its way forward. Via Alex M.
