The problem with the American anti-imperialist left is that, in many cases, their activism is built around a savior complex that expects the oppressed to operate within a monolithic victimization tied to a preferred political identity, one that ultimately serves the agenda of the savior (in this case, the anti-imperialist left). When said victim does not act as expected, they are met with vitriol and disdain. This is why the Western left often has disdain for diaspora communities, because they can’t fit them into their preferred ideological box.

Hasan says Cubans in Miami vs Cuba are “complete opposites” after experiencing it firsthand "All the good Cubans stayed here and the crazy ones flew up there [Miami].. It's just such a strange cognitive dissonance to experience in real time"

Long conversation just now with a progressive who was angry with me bcuz I said Trump didn’t CAUSE our broken politics & our dangerously divided country. I said he’s made everything worse, but he’s the ugly CONSEQUENCE of a broken politics & a dangerously divided country. She believed Trump WAS the cause. So we discussed how out of touch politicians had become, how balkanized our media had become, how lazy both parties had become, and how uninformed & easily manipulated voters had become over the years, and how it all created the perfect storm for a cruel fraud & demagogue like Trump. She listened. I listened. She gained real understanding. I did too. I really like conversations like that.

@Wilson__Valdez I'm so happy identity politics and hyper political correctness is dying a slow death in the Democratic party. You've been tweeting the same bs about Platner for months and no one's listening. How pathetic.

Ruben Gallego coming in to change the news cycle from when he was under fire for boosting a holocaust denier and praising a Neo-Nazi...and now Warren comes in to save him from the news cycle of 'women deserved to be raped.' Boy, 'progressive' principles sure are something...

Graham Platner's got the grit to fight for what’s right on behalf of Maine’s working families—not billionaires and giant corporations. He’s inspired a grassroots movement to flip Maine, and I’m thrilled to endorse @grahamformaine for Senate.

🚨Endorsement Alert! 🚨 “People are excited to vote for someone who will actually fight for them. Not just nibble around the edges.” Thank you, Senator Warren. Together I look forward to taking on Wall Street and the billionaires waging a class war against the rest of us.

@GodlyAction You aren't a Christian then. There's really no argument here. How can you say you are filled with the Holy Spirit, if you refuse to accept Him? Maybe you speak for someone, or something, else...

Hate to say it but tonight's election results indicates a lot of Democratic primary voters are, indeed, stupid enough to vote for Gavin Newsom in 2028.

@Carrieflowr @constans That's why it's a clinical diagnosis....healthy people are not bored in all aspects of life....its speaks more to the person complaining of being bored, then reality itself. Your emotions can lead you to mis-perceive reality in some pretty dramatic ways.

@constans Ok and? I hate this thing where people say a psychological diagnosis like it's a cure to anything and has no cause other than the thing itself. Maybe you just experience depression dysthymia for most of your life because life is bad and then you die. STUPID

@constans Hmm....could be, but those are clinical terms. Could also be sloth....doesn't have to be moral sloth, but the idea of apathy, indifferent, and resistance to effort to things like meaningful responsibilities, personal growth, or relationships.

@AboveTheEl312 @darryn_briggs I agree, but good luck. If you make it harder, then schools get less tuition money, as most students don't want "hard" classes....hence why AI is so popular.

@darryn_briggs It's time to reinvigorate higher education. Colleges have dumbed down education, turning into 4-year spas with lazy rivers and climbing walls. Average hours of study have plummeted.

I think we did a great disservice to ourselves by DE-emphasizing the liberal arts. We don't need more tech guys (like me) right now. We need philosophers, ethicists, artists and for heaven's sake- TEACHERS and COUNSELORS.

America has always been a Protestant nation. It is the foundation of our society. So the values the Protestant faith will always lead our nation. If you want Catholicism to be the guiding force, then move to a Catholic country. It’s no different from a Hindu getting mad for us not considering Hinduism when governing. Go to a Hindu country if you want that.
