@Detective_Roo keep in mind its not just xbox stopping them, its rare themselves, the reason nuts and bolts is what it is today is because they had no idea where to take the series and one of the creators If I recall said if they got a great idea for a new banjo game, they would do it

Sony hasn’t made an Ape Escape game in years. I don’t know why you think Sony would be interested in making a Banjo-Kazooie game, you dumb-ass console warrior.
TheNewTomcat@TTomcat98632

If #Microsoft isn't going to do ANYTHING with the #BanjoKazooie IP, they should sell it to #Sony and let them make it available for #Playstation and make a NEW entry. #XBOX clearly isn't interested in the franchise, since its been dead for 20 years

By the end of the N64 era, Rare was missing deadlines and their output was slowing to a crawl while development costs skyrocketed. When Rare co-founders Tim and Chris Stamper put their remaining stake up for sale, they triggered a bidding war hoping Nintendo would overpay out of sentimentality.  Hiroshi Yamauchi looked at the math and refused to bite. Rare only accounted for a tiny fraction of Nintendo’s revenue at the time, and critical talent was already leaving the studio to form independent teams. Crucially, Nintendo owned the rights to Donkey Kong and Star Fox, meaning Microsoft was paying an inflated 375 million dollars for a logo and a handful of niche intellectual properties.  Passing on Rare wasn't a mistake; it was letting a competitor spend a fortune on a studio that had already peaked, freeing up resources for Nintendo to build their own internal teams and weather the GameCube era.
✨Soft Prelude✨@TrivialLight

I will always stand by the notion that them not purchasing Rare was one of their biggest mistakes.

@KaiserBunga @JeffMan1490 this, I still personally believe it would of killed rare, so many vet devs were leaving at the time, they basically were in development hell in terms of figuring out what the new banjo-kazooie game could be to me its clear rares golden age had passed, and nintendo knew it

@KibaNezumi @JeffMan1490 this, like no one is saying rare didn't make classic games, they were amazing but some of the most beloved rare n64 games just did not do well, especially near the end of the systems lifespan

@JeffMan1490 end of their time with Nintendo DK 64 had to to be packed with the ram pack and were sold at a loss conkers bad furday did not sell well and the n64 and later gamecube did not sell well so the money nintendo had to work with did not make buying a 2nd party stuido

@JeffMan1490 very complicated, look rare made great games, but at the back half of the n64 they were selling extremely well compared to other titles like it or not microsoft saved rare, at a time when nintendo wasn't financially supporting them anymore

@The__Goomba especially the 3rd pearl, like one of the few if not only times when you have to go find the 3 stones/orbs and instead they just outright give it to you. though If I remember correctly the water temple that was cut was reused in twilight princess

@zcichy I mean achivs are great, but at the end of the day the switch and switch 2 has taught us anything its that the average gamer isn't phased or turned away from a lack of achivements or trophies it was a novelty that was forced upon them that had no weight on them actually playing

Maybe I’m alone, but I think achievements and the entire culture around them is incredibly off-putting. But I’m an experience guy. I don’t like achievements for the same reason I don’t take photos IRL every 10 seconds. Live in the moment. Not for trophies to look back on.
JimJustGames@jimjustgames

One thing I do enjoy about other systems is the achievements. It gives me a sense of completion. Nintendo is selling just fine without them and has always avoided them. Would you like to eventually see them cave in and add them?

@ZikadaPrime hot take from me but while I agree maybe they should bring vc games to buy back personally for me there isn't a game in nso that I feel the need to buy outright, for $50 a year you get tons of games, many that I have owned over the years, but personally refuse to pay for again

While obviously Nintendo created their biggest rival Sony, because they cancelled a hardware partnership. I don't think that's their biggest mistake. Nintendo's biggest mistake was deciding to get rid of the ala carte virtual console. NSO is great but I would still like to purchase the games I want to play.

What was Nintendo's biggest mistake?

@KarsonIzation this, its so annoying literality the last 20 years has had thousands upon thousands of games that run 30fps and play fine. hot take: your not a real gamer if you tell me your gonna to exclude yourself from playing anything less than 60fps, because a true gamer wouldn't do that

I’m so sick & tired of seeing the fps debate these days. Too many people have become way too spoiled & hyper fixated about 60 fps being “the standard” for modern games. It’s fucking annoying lol. 30 fps in games have always felt playable. Been playable since the PS2/XB/GCN days.

Started Tales of Arise last Friday and I’m still confused by all the “it runs badly on Switch 2” and “it’s mediocre” comments in my stream. I’ve been having a blast and honestly think it looks great... are we even playing the same game? 😭

I agree, the prime issue with x is so many users reply really aggressively, they jump to conclusions, they insult, they threaten because the website actively encourages it now I think while gen ai is bad, it is just as bad to be that person that has to be shitty on every post
Seiran. | VGen Comms Open!@seiranaino

Controversial topic: AI. I think most artists despise AI. This is pretty much clear. But we shouldn’t treat the people who USE AI like they are also slop. They might just be uneducated on how much trouble AI causes. Can we try something like this next time, artists?

@Vechs I mean I hate these types of games that use another launcher, but not enough to say it justifies review bombing what could be a great game that's a little much

I honestly believe this is an acceptable reason to negative review bomb a game. You already had one launcher; Steam. With a Steam account. That should be enough.

@savefilmer the inconsistencies are laughable , one second they are on a business district with stores, the next they are in a neighborhood and godzilla isn't even in frame after she shoot him this is why AI fails, if the internet has taught me anything its they will notice this

Everyone going so nuts might have legitimately impacted if we ever get a season 2 or actual movie. Goose I don't know if you'll ever see this, but so many of us loved what you did. Please don't give up on writing what you love just because the most hateful peeps are being loud

Gooseworx has issued a new statement following backlash over their response to the movie leak for ‘The Amazing Digital Circus.’ “I really just can't keep my heart in this thing anymore. It's gotten too much bigger than me, & I probably shouldn't be the figurehead of it.”

@RedakdalAtHome And a kid's show can teach bad lessons, of which I think "violence is always wrong" is one of the worst in the last half-century and directly tied to the pussification of society.

@RedakdalAtHome TBH a bad lesson, since history proves violence very often IS the solution. It's just not always the solution (and in Arthur's case, it also ensured she'd never do it again).

@panickedwagon true but again he dad wasnt trying to compare the situation, he was trying to get arthur to acknowledge how he felt getting hit and how D.W. must of felt getting hit regardless they both made up at the end of the episode , the moral was violence was not the answer

@RedakdalAtHome Problem being the episode tries to compare violence with a cause with violence for the sake of violence. Him getting hit by Binky because he was told to isn't comparable to hitting DW in a fit of anger.

@KnightLightXL @9000Blake @AnimeAiden01 this, people also dismiss the fact his parents did say "we will deal with what D.W. did" but the episode wasn't about her, it was about arthur and how he handled the situation terribly, and by not acknowledging what he did was wrong, he was failing to see how she felt
