Negro is an interesting word. This country couldn't call us Africans, because if it had, we would have understood some things about ourselves. We would not have been this "Negro America", constantly enslaved even after slavery. It would have given us a sense of continuity. Pan-Africanism isn't just a response to the European exploitation of Africa. The vision of a unified African state has always been an aspect of Africa's political development. In West Africa there were large states such as Ghana, Mali, Songhai, and Mossi which were states which brought together numerous ethnic groups under a single authority. J. C. de Graft-Johnson credited Mansa Musa of Mali for nearly creating a united West Africa. In South Africa, Dingizwayo sought to bring an end to the fighting among the different groups in the region by uniting them under a single authority. After Dingizwayo was killed, Shaka continued this mission, which eventually led to the creation of the Zulu state.

@rainyoutset : You're referring to Capitalism - which steals the surplus value of the workers' labor. Socialism steals nothing from those building it. Socialism is - specifically - an economic system, not merely a philosophy. Critique requires knowledge of the subject! 📖
