Wars within the same religion between different sects had been more lethal throughout history. A religion is a dogma that relies on certain axioms. If a Christian faces a Muslim, neither side know each other's axioms at all and they might even become friends. A man who knows those axioms but refuse to believe them anymore or belives some other axioms is more dangerous. Islam calls the unbeliever a "kafir" but someone who stopped believing a "munafik". Munafik is always more dangerous than kafir. People rarely chose their sect. If you are born in a Sunni or Catholic family, you most likely keep that for the rest of your life. Shia or Protestant become your natural enemies. A Sunni Muslim becomes a friend with a Jew rather than a Shia as you see on display. I don't waste my time with different versions of Sumerian stories anymore and just believe in God but if I have to make a preference, I believe Shia, Protestant and Kabbalist have more humane systems than Sunni, Catholics and so-called "reformed Judaism". Brahmanism is more superior to Sumerian systems. What you see today with Arabs is not about Sunni vs Shia though. If you remember Lawrence of Arabia and the trachery of Arabs in 1917, both Turks and Arabs were Sunni. Arabs do not have nations, they are tribal and tribe leaders are easier to be acquired than national leaders. They are also more prone to flee if things go bad and you will see that too in coming weeks. Americans do not know and understand any of this. Fighting a few tribes is nothing like fighting a nation that had been around for 3000 years.
