A sincere question, if you are allowed to stand and subsequently win the Makerfield by-election and then challenge for leadership of the Labour Party, will you, or will you not (unlike Keir Starmer despite previous assurances), work with The Sun newspaper?

I can confirm that I will be requesting the permission of the NEC to stand in the Makerfield by-election. I grew up in this area and have lived here for 25 years. I care deeply about it and its people. I know they have been let down by national politics. Ten years ago, I decided to leave Westminster. Why? Because, after 16 years, I came to the conclusion that our national political system does not work for areas like ours. I learnt this fighting its failure to invest in the Wigan borough, for justice for the Hillsborough families and against its treatment of Greater Manchester during the pandemic. Over the last decade, I have been challenging this failure from the outside and building a new and better way of doing politics. We have built Greater Manchester into the fastest-growing city-region in the UK and put buses back under public control, introducing a £2 fare cap to help people with cost-of-living pressures. However, there is only so much that can be done from Greater Manchester. Much bigger change is needed at a national level if everyday life is to be made more affordable again. This is why I now seek people’s support to return to Parliament: to bring the change we have brought to Greater Manchester to the whole of the UK and make politics work properly for people. Millions are struggling and they need the Labour Government to succeed. It has already made changes to make life better for them in its first two years. After this week, we owe it to people to come back together as a Labour movement, giving the Prime Minister and the Government the space and stability they need as the by-election takes place. I want to recognise the difficult decision taken by Josh Simons and the sacrifice he and his family are making. I have worked closely with him as Mayor on issues like flooding and illegal waste dumping and have seen first-hand how effective he has been. He has put the communities of Makerfield first, made a real difference for them and should take great pride in that. Finally, I truly do not take a single vote for granted and will work hard to regain the trust of people in the Makerfield constituency, many of whom have long supported our party but lost faith in recent times. We will change Labour for the better and make it a party you can believe in again. ENDS

Watched a video of every non penalty goal we've conceded this season. Showed all bar one goal only once, for some reason showed the Cunha one three times. The entire buildup to each goal.
It was over SEVENTEEN minutes long.
Thoughts:
Alisson of 2018-2022 would have saved a lot of the goals 2026 Alisson conceded.
Robbo was at the scene of a lot of crimes despite only being a backup.
Ibou. The less said the better.
Virgil has had a few howlers.
RB has been hilarious.
The midfield has been a disgrace. One of them isn't capable of doing their job. The other flat out doesn't bother.
Szoboszlai does a lot of meaningless running to disguise some very poor habits and a tendency to not tackle.
But the biggest issue is just how open and easy to play through we are. And that's a coaching thing. That's not just about having the right players. It's about a complete inability to instill any sort of defensive structure despite being in the job for two years now.

I would be disappointed if Xabi Alonso ended up at Chelsea, especially with how that club is run.
But I don’t think it’s the end of the world if we didn’t end up being the team that got him as there are other options.
It would be funny if we ended up with Cesc and they had Alonso though 😂

If Slot does go in the summer, I get it. Don’t necessarily agree but I get it. If he stays then he has to be given a better squad while also getting the team back to the heights they were at 24/25. Do I think he can do that? Yes and I use 24/25 as evidence for it. Time will tell

@davidlynchlfc The thing with Alonso is he’d have the fans on his side & galvanize them with hope belief like Klopp did, you can argue tactics and formations but our recruitment tells me we were planning for Alonso’s system.
I’m holding hope this is all a smokescreen and it’s a mutual parting

@Redz997 @GrizzKhan @Micks2B Oh I’d have fired him in Oct / Nov he would have been long gone if it were up to me. He certainly cannot stay beyond the summer, because you’re right he’ll destroy another season, I can’t fathom why he’s still employed. Just trying to make some kind of sense of it.
