@Pack_Rat_EWaste In 1966, the avg person spent their money on housing, food, insurance, maybe a new gadget very now and then. In 2016, the avg person spends their money on all the above plus 500 streaming services, doordash, the latest iphone, random junk on Amazon, etc etc etc

So, I'm watching all these people talk about 'oh just pack your own lunch, make your coffee at home, you're all just a bunch of lazy spendthrift kids'. Which, to be fair, some people really are spendthrifts. However, none of these people are addressing the elephant in the room. In 1966, any potato brained idiot who barely got out of high school could afford to buy a house on a single salary, and support a wife and 2 kids, and not have to scrimp at all. In 2026, It's all Double Income No Kids, because nobody can afford to have kids, we're all working 60 plus hours a week, and living like a monk, just to scrap up a downpayment on a stupidly over-priced house on a 35 year mortgage at 9%, even if you do have 750 credit. Oh, and if you do find a house that isn't a shoebox, and is less than 200k? It's in some shithole corner of the country with no jobs, no infrastructure, and no local economy. But sure, we can't buy houses because of door dash.

CALL TO ACTIVISM
CALL TO ACTIVISM@CalltoActivism·
🚨MAJOR BREAKING: Leader Hakeem Jeffries just laid out the Democrats’ ENTIRE midterm message in plain English and it’s one to be PROUD of: 🔵 Driving down the high cost of living 🔵 Fixing the broken healthcare system 🔵 Getting ICE under control 🔵 Cleaning up corruption in the White House 🔵 Cleaning up corruption in Congress 🔵 Cleaning up corruption at the Supreme Court 🔵 Ending the “reckless and costly war of choice” in the Middle East 🔵 Bringing people together vs. Republicans tearing people apart “Do you want an affordable country… or a country that solely is benefiting the wealthy, the well-off, and the well-connected?” “Do you wanna move America forward, or do you wanna turn back the clock?” “Democrats are gonna fight hard to make your life better.” That’s the choice. Democrats fighting for lower costs, healthcare, accountability, and stability, while Republicans keep dragging the country deeper into chaos, corruption, division, and endless outrage. THE CHOICE IS AN EASY ONE.

The "packing your lunch" debate is a financial literacy test It's the marshmallow test for adults... and 70% on this app fail If you pass, you're almost guaranteed financial success at some point in your life If you fail, I am 100% certain you will never achieve any sort of financial success and will struggle with things like "payments" and rent prices your entire life

@J_Buster_Keaton We should live within our means and financial literacy is important but that's true whether you live in America or a 3rd world country. To go from president doing campaign stops in McDonalds to telling everyone they need to eat canned Tuna the rest of their life is bullshit tho

I've spent four of the last seven years living in Mexico's second poorest state. People eat at restaurants all the time. Mexicans get 10x more food delivered to their homes, same in India & China. The reason you can't afford living in the US has nothing to do with buying a coffee

On the one hand people shouldn’t overspend on lunch. On the other hand, it is genuinely weird to me that the norm is for everyone to prepare their own food when basically nothing else works this way. Used to be that everyone made their own clothes too.

@m_stevenson78 Notice the NAACP and CBC are not offering to walk away from their paychecks in protest, the kids who may only have one shot should walk away from theirs, because they say so This is disgusting

The NAACP is clueless and it’s time for Derrick Johnson to resign. You want a parent that probably has spent upwards of 25-50K of their money sending their child to camps, pop warner, AAU and some to prep school to get a D1 offer from one of the Power 4 conference to take one for the team when the legislators themselves could have codified voter rights 13 yrs ago when Shelby v Holder started.
philip lewis@Phil_Lewis_

The NAACP is urging Black athletes and fans to “withhold athletic and financial support” from public universities in states that “have moved to limit, weaken or erase Black voting representation”

The President just used his power to exempt himself and his family from audits on every tax return they've ever filed. If that is not corruption to the highest degree, then what is?

@Wulf__Sorenson They're not 50 50... its more like 30 30 40 split between democrats republicans and independents. Furthermore that 330, 000,000 includes people who are not eligible to vote. There are roughly 200,000,000 eligible voters and only 140,000,000 voted in 2024.

How is it that American politics are divided almost perfectly 50/50? A country of 330+ million, and it just so happens that almost exactly half of the people support red, and the other half support blue? Seems suspicious to me

Boomers were “mean drunks” who’d come home hammered and beat their family Gen Xers were “fun drunks” who maybe had some beers on the couch every day and it totally wasn’t alcoholism but it kinda was Gen Z grew up with them as parents and grandparents so of course they don’t drink.
S.🎧@1ssve

Serious Question: The alcohol industry has lost $830 billion in the last 4 years, because Gen Z is not drinking. Why do you think they aren’t drinking?

The Wire (2002) was nearly cancelled every season. HBO kept renewing it reluctantly despite mediocre ratings, only because critics wouldn't stop calling it the greatest show ever made.
