@gibquig @br4lm @BillShaikin The Dodgers are more successful because they’ve been winning. The Angels get some of the LA metro market and Orange County is a wealthy primary fan base. The Angels have gone out of their way to alienate that OC fanbase and they still turn out. Moving to LA wouldn’t gain anything

@Reece_17 @br4lm @BillShaikin Why are the Dodgers more successful? The Dodgers are becoming an experience for the rich. Angels should look to capitalize on this.

@br4lm @BillShaikin Well Orange County hasn't really worked out for success. Inglewood would be middle ground for LA and OC. They need to get into some of that LA money. They should be top 5 in revenue, not sitting out of the top 10.

@railboss @karol College scholarships can’t be the goal of playing travel. In a lot of areas, you have to play travel just to be able to play high school ball. There are exceptions but they’re definitely exceptions.

@karol The WSJ did an article years ago about if parents saved all the money they spent on travel teams so Jane or Johnny could get a scholarship they’d likely be able to pay for college outright.

Travel sports are largely stupid but I think so many families have leaned more into kids' sports because it's a way to foster community and the parents have few other opportunities to do that. Some do it for distant college possibilities, sure, but for many it's making friends.
Clay Travis@ClayTravis

If you’re a parent and you think — spending on kids sports is out of control — you’re not wrong. Look at spending on youth sports since 2019. Graphic via @wsj.

@Kelly0534 @MickeySorg @karol This right here. Little league is tough to start playing if your first year is age 10-11. Those kids tend to take a lot of the volunteer rec coach’s time at practice; for good or bad. The higher level kids tend to play rec and travel or exclusively travel after 9 or 10.

@MickeySorg @karol Agree the middle is hollowed out by age 9. It’s unfortunate not an easy place for families when you kid wants more competition and it’s hard when there’s kids who just showed up for the first time or are only there because the parent is still making them

The Angels radio broadcast of the game at Dodger Stadium tonight is being called remotely. Would seem to indicate that, once again, Arte Moreno is cheaping out this season and not sending his radio broadcasters on the road.

Tyler Bremner on refining his slider: “I've come to the realization that you're not going to go out there and have four really plus pitches. It's rare, not everybody's Paul Skenes. But just having something you could show and be effective, that's going to take them off the other pitches in general.” (@jimcallisMLB)

Horrible. Iran targets civilians. It is what they do. It is their nature. May God heal the wounded and may the memory of the dead be a blessing.

Netanyahu is such a despicable liar: - Ali Khamenei had issued a fatwa against developing nuclear weapons. Now his younger, more extreme son is in charge and is MORE likely to seek a nuke - US intelligence said the soonest Iran could get an ICBM that could hit the US was 2035
Richard Engel@RichardEngel

Netanyahu spoke to a few reporters. He insists Israel is not dragging the world to war, and explained how he envisions reshaping the middle east so that oil pipelines flow through Israel. (And despite rumors, he was really there and alive)

Before the 1959 revolution, when Cuba was run by the mob, 40% of urban and 60% of rural Cubans were malnourished and most people in the countryside didn't have running water, electricity or public education - while 1 in 4 Cubans were fully illiterate. So everyone in the "if only Castro hadn't done this or that" crowd should probably read a book before spouting their ignorant heads off and showing us what clowns you all are.

@rorycooper 100%. Find travel/developmental organizations that prioritize development and practice over constant weekend plastic ring tournaments. Make sure that org also prioritizes your kids playing in rec leagues too. It’s tough to find orgs like but once you find one stick with it.

Jo Adell just doubled on the 14th pitch of his at-bat against A's right-hander Nick Anderson. He's had a great spring, batting .359/.375/.692 with three homers, four doubles and seven RBIs in 14 games.

@D1SCHER Saw Arte in the concourse at Tempe Diablo in the 1st today. A guy shouted “sell the team” at him, it was loud enough to get him to turn and look. I’m sure that set the tone 🤣.

I mean fans should be chanting this every game during the regular season Power in numbers. If you’re really gonna get pissed off and threaten fans how are you gonna control an entire stadium chanting it?
Dan@DanJ_official

@BeyondTheHalo We got an official warning from An usher after a "sell the team" chant from Three guys. Out by the right field pole. She said Arte heard us but also laughed at the same time

So America’s expensive new stealth jets don’t have the range to reach Iran without being refueled by easily shot down tanker planes and Iran has already damaged or destroyed 7 of them.
