An amazing few days volunteering at #CM2022conf with fellow students from @SLTBeckett and new SLT friends from @CityLCS , we made quite the team! Interesting to attend talks and talk to AAC users and parents, special mention to @BobSagoo who had us all emotional! @Comm_Matters

What a pleasure it’s been to volunteer with @SpeakWithITReal aphasia cafe. I’ll miss all the wonderful people I got to learn so much from each month.

One of my students from Pakistan received his PhD today at graduation. His mother got me this as a gift. Gifts are not necessary - the hard work was all done by the student - but this shawl is too gorgeous not to share.

Myself and @CiaraBoothSLT are completing a student project on placement and are interested to know whether any NHS trusts routinely screen patients post brain tumour surgery for communication and swallowing needs? (or have any trusts done this in the past?)

i don't think we talk about this enough but i find it quite appalling to see how badly SaLT teams lack diversity especially when working in areas that are so culturally diverse! saw this at my recent placement and i just shiver at the horror of how bad the cultural awareness is!

Most people think of patient facing roles being only Doctors and Nurses. However, there’s a whole other group called Allied Health Professionals (AHPs). There’s 14 groups that work side by side with us to provide the best care for patients.

Vaccinated a man today- when I told him I’m an SaLT he said: “You have no idea how much I respect your profession. I’m a throat cancer survivor and your colleagues saved my life. You gave me my life back when I had to relearn how to swallow. You’re truly underrated” ❤️ #mySLTday
