@paultpearson @mathyawp Nice! That's what I was thinking we'd do. It'd be fun to have a button making event where math majors can come and make their own buttons at the end of each semester.

@ReeveHunter @mathyawp Of course! I first heard about it probably a decade ago in MAA Focus (or something similar), but we didn't do it until a few years ago when my dept chair heard about it. We went with buttons (instead of stickers for a laptop, etc.) and bought our own button press.

Take a look at the buttons that students at Hope College get each time they complete a math course. They proudly display them on their backpacks as a way of building identity among math majors. Can you figure out which class each button stands for?

@mathyawp Yup! Thanks for sharing. Students do really like the buttons, put them on their backpacks, and sometimes even on their stoles during commencement ceremonies.

To me, it seems like (and I will be teaching it as) a furthering of the ideas of implicit differentiation. It’s about thinking abstractly about the chain rule. But…the problems are all so stale and contrived!!!

What, to you, is the purpose of teaching related rates to students? Is it an outdated type of problem?

@shauninman @NickTitle I figured it out! I couldn't find the second town for some reason, but I searched around every path and eventually got there. Now I'm on to the 3rd plant.

@NickTitle @shauninman Ok… so how do you get to the next destination after the first boss if not with the jump tool? I’ve explored for ages and can’t find a way to the next map Checkpoint in the caverns. Enjoying it, but feeling stuck!

@StevenXClontz Yep. I'm learning a bit of git (command line) at the moment, but I'd love to set up course materials on GitHub that my students can access. I'm interested to see what other folks do.

@CheckItProblems Hey CheckIt. Would it be possible to generate other Canvas question types? I'm thinking of fill-in-the-blank (fitb), multiple fitb, or numerical answer questions? I would love to use CheckIt to generate some auto-graded Canvas quizzes.

@wickamos I've noticed my CZ-101 sometimes glitches out after being powered down for a long time and comes up with what I assume is out-of-range data. Have you messed around on many synths with sending it "bad" data?
