📢🔊A significant milestone was reached in the long-running case of 7,118 people displaced for Uganda’s oil refinery project. The High Court in Hoima has allowed the affected communities to present evidence from a private valuer to determine fair compensation. Despite years of delays and outdated rates, Justice Vincent Openye’s ruling ensures the case will now proceed, giving hope for justice. The next hearing is set for May 21, 2026, when the valuer will present final evidence alongside the government’s witness. This is a key step toward upholding constitutional rights and fair compensation.@stopEACOP @awdf01
