Many of us were already unhappy with the +/- 25 system (Shadow Legacy) as it became too easy to hit Champion and stay there, weakening the correlation between rank and skill. Realistically that system was fine, but they used it as proof of concept to justify further manipulation of the rank distribution bell curve. I understand what they were going for, i.e., keeping casuals happy, increasing rewards, etc. But the competitive nature of Siege better suits an aggressive rank distribution like CSGO or early-stage Valorant. Sure, adjusting the bell curve to artificially increase ranks annoys veteran players, but thats more frustrating than it is problematic. However, with Ranked 2.0 they turned the rank system into a glorified battlepass. I knew it was over when 5 career 95% win rate Champs are matched against peak Golds with 30% win rate and 0.5 K/D, who were now Champion because they played 500+ matches. There were >20k champs on PC and 30k-40k on Xbox/PS5 (each) in the first season of Ranked 2.0 😭. Yet they still can’t figure out why this is bad…

this is how ranked SHOULD BE. siege went from around 1,000 champs to over 10,000 with the introduction of ranked 2.0 sure it drove engagement for a bit, but in the long term it failed. the most played games have competitive ranks that actually mean something. the proof is clear
