So happy for Jordan Walker and his breakout season this year. He was one of my big fantasy baseball sleeper targets this season. What an awesome HR Derby to watch and congratulations Jordan Walker!

My personal Pokemon GO Road of Legends & Global GO Fest experience: We’ll start with the Road of Legends, a week-long lead-up event that primarily focused on raid battles. An awesome concept to bring back every legendary and mythical in raids as well as dedicated days for meta-relevant mons. It also introduced a brand new background to chase after. - I did 220 raids - I got 9 shiny Legendary Pokemon - I got 1 shiny Legendary with a bg - On Monday (Day 1 of the event), I went 1/100 on shinies. Brutal. - On Tuesday, I went 2/30 on shinies. 1 had a bg (Necrozma) - the only one that I’d get for the entire Road of Legends event - On Wednesday, 3/40 on shinies - On Thursday, 1/20 on shinies - On Friday, 2/30 on shinies - I got 2 100% IV Zacian, 1 with a bg I thought this event was exciting and cool. Day one felt like a slap in the face for me personally though and made me not want to go as hard for the rest of the week. I ended up going 9/220 which is about 1/25 shiny rates. The “rate” is supposed to be 1/20 so I got just a tad unlucky. That’s no big deal. In my opinion though, I feel like the shiny rate should either be 1/10 for events like this OR the background rate should be 1/2 instead of what it was. The whole point of an event like this is to chase these shinies with the bg since (if you’ve played the game since it released like I have) all of these legendary Pokemon have been released several times in raids over the years and most of us have a ton of these shinies already. However, it feels nearly impossible to get all of them, let alone a couple with the odds that were in place. You had to spend over $1,000 to get yourself multiple shinies with a bg (or get extremely lucky). I get that you want them to be a rare “chase” (not something everyone should get) as a way for the company to make a ton of money due to the exclusivity and rarity. Now for GO Fest Global, a 2-day weekend event that I look forward to playing every year. It gets me outside all day and interacting with my community & people that enjoy Pokemon as much as I do. Having fun chasing the new releases (in this case Mega Mewtwo X and Y) and hunting new shiny Pokemon. Easily my favorite weekend of playing this game each year. - I got 70 shinies total between Saturday & Sunday (10 Legendary, 60 wild/hatched) and 11 of them I didn’t previously have - I did 300 raids between Saturday & Sunday (280 Mewtwo, 20 various) - I got 9 shiny Mewtwo’s (traded one away) and one had a bg - The other raid shiny was a Zamazenta, no bg - On Saturday, I went 8/140 on shiny Mewtwo and got my single shiny bg one - On Sunday, I went 1/140 on shiny Mewtwo - I got 3 100% IV Mewtwo’s, 1 with a bg Saturday was the most fun that I’ve had playing Pokemon GO in a long time. Tons of shinies. Great shiny Mewtwo rates (I had 8/140, a little luckier than the 1/20 rate). Got 1 bg shiny Mewtwo (my main chase, I also lucky swapped it with my friend and got a shiny 98% IV one), got a 100% IV Mewtwo with a background and had loads of fun with my community. Sunday, was the opposite. The wild shinies were great, but the raids…ouch. I got a shiny Mewtwo at 10:30 am (the event ran from 10 am to 7 pm each day) on my 4th raid and then proceeded to do 135 raids without a shiny. That was really discouraging and put a damper on the entire day. With each raid, it took a toll. I’m not owed anything and still had fun with my friends, but damn. It felt rough. Crazy how both the start and end of the event were disappointing for me. Overall, the event was a ton of fun. I got a bunch of incredible Pokemon, loads of new shinies and had a few shundo attempts (still have never gotten one from a raid and I’ve done 8,099 raids). There were moments of disappointment, but you have to remember that it’s just a game and you’re not entitled to anything. Ever. Your journey, game and adventure is unique to you. Level 80 in #PokemonGO! My goal was to hit level 80 by the end of this year and it happened way earlier than I thought. Super happy to be done with the grind and finally be at the new max level in game!

@PalkiaRS I went with this. Originally a 13/14/12 shiny Origin Dialga with the space warp background. I think you can’t go wrong with either Zygarde or Zeraora. Both have future mega’s and are super strong. I’d say Zeraora is currently more usable as an electric attacker right now though.

@snapbackdom_ @PokemonGoApp @NianticHelp @scopely I also had trouble today. Saturday I got 8 shinies in 140 raids, 1 had a background, perfectly acceptable odds. Sunday though? I got 1 shiny in 130 raids. It was definitely demotivating and put an upsetting stain on what otherwise was a phenomenal event.

I physically cannot raid anymore today until I figure out if this is a bug or not. I’m 1/157 raiding Mewtwo for shinies. Anyone else having trouble? @PokemonGoApp @NianticHelp @scopely

I wish I got invited to that #PokemonGO10 event in New York City. That looked amazing and everyone there got a hundo Mewtwo with a special NYC background. I’m from NY and have been playing since the game came out - where’s my invite @PokemonGoApp? 😭 why won’t you love me like I love you?

Wow. The background rate is spot on 1/4, but that's terrible shiny luck. I only did about 36 and scored 2 shiny, and 5 with backgrounds. (I set a daily $ limit b/c I know how tough it can be sometimes ... congrats on the hundo, I'm hunting for a few, but need lightning to strike, lol)

Here are my results from 100 raids on Day 1 of the #RoadofLegends event in #PokemonGO - 1 shiny (Rayquaza, no background) - 1 hundo (Zacian, not shiny, no background) - 25 backgrounds (25%, 29 in screenshot but 4 are Gimmighoul’s) This event is awesome. The raids are refreshing and fun. But the shiny rates are brutal. It’s supposed to be 1/20 but 1/100 feels like a slap in the face. Even more-so when everyone is chasing shiny backgrounds that require you to get lucky on a 1/10 after the 1/20. I for one, am really excited about this event and Go Fest Global. Been excited since it was announced. However, somehow this game always finds a way to get you both hyped and disappointed at the same time. For instance, when I saw the 2188 CP for Zacian, I was so hyped. I wanted a hundo Zacian badly and got lucky. Then you think to yourself, “wow, this could be a shundo”. It doesn’t shine. Then you go oh well, and then think to yourself, “wow, this could have a background”. It doesn’t have a background. I was still very hyped about the hundo, but at the same time I felt disappointed, like I got unlucky? It’s a very strange feeling, especially for a video game. I’m grateful for a perfect IV and I know I’m not entitled to anything on this game. Even if you spend real life money, no one is owed anything. I’m just sharing the underwhelming reality of the game sometimes. It is what it is. Gotta catch em all, am I right?

Imagine going from watching the Knicks, a team of destiny that was winning through the power of friendship, hard work and determination - to watching the Mets, who look like they have no fun, aren’t friends, mentally checked out & have given up halfway through the season. Brutal.
