@CatharineHoey Well of course he doesn't need all that security, after all London is the safest city in the world isn't it?🤣🤣

Boris was arguably the most famous politician when Mayor of London yet he travelled all over London on his bicycle with NO security and on the tube where he was usually inundated for selfies. Yet Khan immediately took a bomb proof carrier flanked by a back up and then a security guard. Absolutely no need for such an expensive security team. Signs of grandeur rather than necessity!
Geoffrey Myers@geoffreyMyers1

Wonder where the bomb proof land rovers , security detail and fire power were when Boris was Mayor of London !

The Darlington nurses have won! The judge ruled that the NHS was guilty of harassment for enabling a man to use their changing facilities. Surely now the ideological capture of the NHS must be properly tackled…

@SuellaBraverman Erm, but she was appointed Chief Constable in 2021, under the Conservatives wasn't she? Are you saying that her views were not apparent before she was appointed?

The Metropolitan Police has consistently empowered anti-semites and is on the wrong side of history. As Home Secretary, senior leadership ignored my warnings and sided with mob-rule. They are now reaping the ‘rewards’ of their pathetic inaction. Mark Rowley has no credibility and he must resign. x.com/telegraph/stat…

How come the West Midlands @WMPolice Chief Constable Craig Guildford has not resigned @ShabanaMahmood? He's guilty of grossly misleading on the threat of the Maccabi fans. If he doesn't resign it gives licence to every Muslim thug in this country to intimidate police forces.

@SpeechUnion @RobertJenrick This isn't something new, it was happening under the Tories as well. So why didn't Robert and his colleagues do anything about it when they had the chance?

@RobertJenrick is right. The police are capitulating to Islamist extremists rather than confronting them, for fear of being labelled racist. The decision to ban Maccabi Tel-Aviv fans from attending a Europa League match in November, citing safety concerns, is an egregious example. If the Government implements its official definition of Islamophobia — now repackaged as “anti-Muslim hostility” — it will silence legitimate debate and criticism of Islam. In a free society, no religion is beyond criticism or legitimate challenge. Public services must not be deterred from doing their job for fear of being branded “Islamophobic”. Read more below 👇

Technology Secretary Liz Kendall says she would back regulator Ofcom if it blocks UK access to Elon Musk's social media site X for failing to comply with online safety laws. Isn’t it funny that the Labour government are going after Elon Musk’s X platform and no other platform…?

How did this loon become a KC? If it were not for Elon Musk buying Twitter we'd all be routinely gaslit and controlled Were it not for Elon Musk and Starlink, desperate Iranians would be getting massacred under the cover of the regime's comms blackout The man is a bloody hero Meanwhile this unhinged Barrister is peddling the lines of the Antifa mob trying to plunge the West into civil war for their foreign paymasters It's scary this person is in the justice system AT ALL. Let alone a KC World's gone mad.
Jessica Simor KC@JMPSimor

At a certain point, if Musk continues to promote fascism, white supremacy, antisemitism, race hatred & violence, as he does, something will have to be done. Lives as well as our freedom potentially depend upon such action.

@afneil Except that they aren't professional enough to leave their politics at the classroom door. In the same way that civil servants are saying they wouldn't be able to continue under a Reform government. It seems that impartiality where its supposedly professed is hard to find.

I would think that bad too. Teachers should not be dominated by one ideology — and they should be professional enough to leave their politics at the classroom door.

Ed Miliband has been caught telling porkies again, repeating the lie that energy bills are high due to the cost of fossil fuels. In fact, says Paul Homewood, it's the astronomical cost of subsidising renewables. dailysceptic.org/2026/01/02/mil…

Sometimes, just sometimes, Governments back off. Always, and I mean always, it's because grassroots activists - in this instance ordinary farmers with their magnificent tractors, dogged determination and the fab allies who fought alongside them - just said NO. LOUDLY. Hurrah. Happy Christmas all of you. And here's to fighting (& winning) more battles together in 2026!
Jessica Elgot@jessicaelgot

BREAKING - Two days before Christmas, the government capitulates on the farming inheritance tax. Defra announcing it will increase the threshold from £1m to £2.5m and allows spouses to pass on £5m assets. The u-turn will cost the Treasury £130m but bring relief to smaller farms

@realMaalouf Completely disingenuous. The Japanese diet is not a secret. It's possible to look up popular dishes in the country you plan to live in. BTW there are lots of alternatives to pork in Japan! eg the seafood is fabulous as is the beef (whose not of wagyu ?!) and chicken.

This Muslim woman living in Japan is very angry because Japanese food has ‘a lot of pork’: “Japan uses too much pork. Whenever I buy something or go out to eat, I find out there’s pork and cannot eat it.” What’s the solution to her problem?

The Electoral Commission, not a notably hysterical body, has said cancelling the local elections is wrong and risks undermining democracy. It’s a desperate attempt to spare Labour’s shame at a May wipeout.
David Aaronovitch@DAaronovitch

@andywigmore @AllisonPearson @UKLabour @Keir_Starmer Some council elections have been postponed because of council reorganisation. Jury trials will be held for the serious cases (over 90% of cases already heard in magistrates courts). Now you can disagree but communism it ain't. You silly old hysteric you
