@JonHeyman Just want to point out that precedence has already been set on a guy who plays dh winning a gold glove. Rafael Palmeiro won the AL Gold Glove at 1B in 1999 even though he played far more games at DH (128) than at first base (28). 🤷‍♂️

The Yankees don’t need a right handed bat so bad that they should bring in a below average hitter. They shouldn’t force that issue for the hell of it. Their lineup and depth is fine. They can be choosy there. Their pitching needs more help.

Joe Niekro getting ejected. Niekro was found to have an emery board in his pocket which he claimed was just to file his nails so he could throw a knuckleball better, but the umps weren't fooled. It wasn't in his pocket the entire time. As soon as he takes his glove off he puts his hands in his back pocket, when the ump tried to grab his hands you can see he put it in his back left pocket. I think he had it taped or glued on his finger.

@pamsson Of course they will ask for the 🌙 , as they should, but I think the peralta deal set the market there. Yes, Skubs is better, that’s not a ?, so the package for Skubs will be better too but it’s not 2 prospects for peralta and 2 bonafide MLB guys plus top prospect better.

The Tigers are out of their minds. Lol. One year is one year even for a guy like Skubal. They don’t want to trade him. They just want to figure out the arbitration situation and see what happens after that.

@pamsson He’s in the rotation to start, has to be the plan. He’s got the skillset. If he gets injured, that’s why you have 10 guys who can start. They are building their depth with guys who start not guys who bullpen. Then if he moves to the pen in October and ya got a lefty pumping gas.

It can work out well for them, but if you’re trading for a pitcher, why is it a project? Why can’t it just be a clear upgrade on what they have? And why can’t it be someone without recent injury issues? I would think bullpen but four guys for an unproven pen arm?

I trust the Yankees when it comes to pitching. Blake and Dreuschel are great at what they do. Ryan Weathers is very talented. But I don’t get this move. He’s barely pitched in two years. He has command issues and they have Weathers-type young Ps. It’s not a rotation upgrade.
