(The thinking voice)
The voice in your head
—the stream of thoughts and inner speech—is part of the astral body and the activity of the thinking soul. It is the instrument of thinking, shaped by memory, language, habits, and past experiences.
So the voice is not the deepest “you.”
It is something you use.
(The listener)
The one who can observe the voice
—the one that notices thoughts arising
—is the “I” (the ego or spiritual self).
This “I” has the ability to:
•observe thoughts
•guide thinking
•choose which thoughts to follow
•eventually transform thinking through conscious awareness
Because the “I” can watch thinking,
it proves that thinking itself is not identical with the true self.
Why this matters.
Spiritual development begins when a person realizes:
“I am not my passing thoughts. I am the being that can become conscious of them.”
When this awareness grows stronger, the human being gains inner freedom, because the “I” can begin to shape thinking instead of being carried by it.
The voice in your head belongs to the thinking soul, but the one who hears it is the spiritual “I”—the deeper center of the human being that can stand above its own thoughts and become conscious of them.
——————————————————-
—Thinking can observe itself.
A strange fact: in most experiences we observe something outside ourselves
—a tree, a sound, a person.
But in thinking, something unique happens.
——> Thinking can observe thinking.
You can notice a thought appearing, watch it move, and even stop it. This means the human being possesses a center of awareness that stands above the stream of thoughts.
The “I” is the spiritual individuality that uses thinking as an instrument.
So there are two layers:
1.The stream of thoughts – images, words, memories forming the inner voice.
2.The observing self – the “I” that can notice and guide those thoughts.
When you suddenly realize “I am thinking this”, the observer has stepped behind the thought.
Why inner speech exists.
The voice-like quality of thought is connected to language and the brain. Thinking becomes clothed in words because our physical organism shapes how consciousness expresses itself.
But deeper thinking can occur without words, as pure intuitive insight.
Spiritual training strengthens the observing self.
Through practices like:
•concentration
•meditation
•moral self-observation
the “I” becomes more awake inside thinking.
Instead of thoughts running automatically, the person becomes the conscious creator of thought.
—The deeper mystery
This capacity to observe thinking is the gateway to spiritual knowledge.
Because when the “I” becomes fully awake within thinking, the human being begins to experience thinking not as a private brain activity,
——>but as participation in a living spiritual reality behind the world.
———————————————————-
The voice is —>the surface of Thinking,
the listener is ———-> the Spiritual Self,
and behind both lies the deeper
cosmic intelligence in which human thinking participates ———————-> The Christ
