The EU keeps adding new safety rules, now again for cars. Individually, every rule sounds reasonable: fewer accidents, fewer risks, more protection. But add them all up and you get a very different kind of society. One where every edge is padded. Every decision is pre-corrected. Every citizen is treated a bit more like a child on a playground. I call it the rubber-tile society. Safety matters. Of course it does. But a culture that tries to eliminate every possible risk eventually eliminates responsibility, experimentation and freedom too.
