@Dreamboum it's really fantastic if you ignore the cover system and run and gun like in the originals. it really shouldn't be in the game, it just led people to play it like a GTA game and shoot from cover, which is boring as shit

@TigoODonnell x.com/Ren8524/status… here's my village sequence. i felt the same way until i started playing like this. now i feel that the game is consistently inconsistent. the skill expression comes from minimizing the inconsistency, and the game gives you a lot of tools to do so.

@Ren8524 But in the original you can *only* shoot while standing still, and the staggers are guaranteed if you make the shot. Which is just the better system frankly. This aspect of re4make (and by extension all the remakes) is by far the worst thing about them.

@TigoODonnell like if you look at 2:50 i think the inconsistent stagger is really fun here. it caused me to take too long w that shovel dude, which caused chainsaw man to surprise me and force me to leave the shotgun and adapt. 4R is better at forcing these kinds of situations than the OG imo

@TigoODonnell i think the reason the mechanics are less consistent is bc they wanted 4R to feel like more of a horror game, and less of an arcadey action game like the OG. i think it really succeeds at making it feel more tense and overwhelming, like ur constantly being backed into a corner.

Got to chapter 5 and yeah unfortunately there’s too much inconsistency within this game that’s frustrating for me to put it above the original.

Decided to go for Professional S+ on RE4rR with a completely fresh new game without bonus stuff, and I cannot get a good, consistent strategy down on the village ambush.

@pnguin00 @DireRavennn also, it works a bit differently with each pistol. the starting pistol is a bit slow, yeah, but the punisher and red9+stock charge way faster and let you move the right stick more without widening.

@pnguin00 @DireRavennn the bloom doesn't reset when you move the right stick. it just temporarily widens while you're moving the camera. if you stop moving the camera, it resets back to full charge instantly.

RE4R NG Professional village. this game gets so much more fun once you realize how strong charging your shots is. even though you can move and shoot, its better to stand still and shoot slowly, like in the OG. you get way more staggers that way and save ammo

@DireRavennn it's because you aren't letting the reticle shrink first. if you stop moving and aim before shooting, they stagger way faster. I love that system because, while you have the option to move and shoot, it's better to stop moving and shoot slowly whenever you can

i always find this funny, what exactly do you guys like about luis in re4 og? he’s not even a good character, and barely shows up enough to really feel present. the remake did something incredible by improving both his character and story. that comparison never made sense to me

I play this game on PC Well actually the fresh boot is quite long. So yeahhh. It’s only that fast because the game finished loading when you boot it up.
