I used to love beef jerky. Now I'm a total convert to BILTONG.
Jerky is sliced, marinated, and then cooked at a low temperature. Biltong is marinated, dried, and then sliced. This gives it a completely different flavor profile and texture.
The best place to get yourself some delicious biltong is Farmer Bill's Provisions. I have tried everything in their store, and trust me, it's the highest quality you can get.
High Protein
Biltong is naturally high in protein. 10 grams per serving with Farmer Bill's.
Low Carb
There is very little carbs or sugar in Farmer Bill's Biltong. They don't add sugar like most jerky purveyors. Instead, they let the flavor of their beef do the talking.
Clean Meat
Most jerky in the store is full of preservatives, sugar, gluten, nitrates, and seed oils. Not Farmer Bill's.
Regenerative Farming
You don't want to eat beef from a factory farm. All the beef and bison used to create Farmer Bill's delicious biltong come from regenerative farms. They live on the land and restore the land as they graze.
You can get 20% off everything in their store with the promo code "RENEGADE"
Make sure you check out their tallow balms while you're at it. I use the Sleepy Cow Balm on my sons every night and it works like a charm. You can't really go wrong with tallow balm. Especially when it's Farmer Bill's.
They were kind enough to offer you 20% off when you use the promo code "RENEGADE",so please take advantage while you can.

FINALLY A WAY TO REMOVE MICROPLASTICS FROM THE GUT
MicroCleanse
An up-and-coming company called Hazel’s Holistic developed a daily supplement meant to remove microplastics from your gut. I was happy to consult with them on the ingredients involved in this supplement.
Apple Pectin
This is the same stuff your grandma used to make jelly. Turns out, it’s excellent at binding to microplastics. The pectin binds the small microplastics and then prevents them from passing through the gut barrier into the liver and systemic circulation.
You just poop the plastics out - at least more than you otherwise would.
Apple pectin itself is relatively inert. It is low calorie and has no real nutritional value. It may also bind cholesterol in the gut and help remove some, similar to how psyllium husk works. It is overall healthy for the GI tract.
Brassica
This is a plant extract (cabbage and mustard family) found in vegetables like broccoli. It contains high levels of sulforaphane and glucosinolates. Sulforaphane is a powerful free radical scavenger - this is important because MPs create a ton of free radicals.
Glucosinolates reduce oxidative stress and induce detoxification enzymes in the liver. The first place microplastics in the gut travel to is the liver, making this a vital organ to protect.
Chlorella
A powerful antioxidant that shows promise in treating microplastic consumption.
Lycopene
I like this supplement so much, I added it to my heart health supplement. In this case, we like it because it is great at reducing oxidative stress. It’s great for heart health.
Hazels Holistic is having a Spring Cleaning sale - clean out your gut and rid yourself of harmful microplastics.

Microplastics in your Lungs!
Microplastics (MP) are small enough to float through the air and travel on currents. This means you can easily breathe them in.
Once they're in your lungs, they cause damage. Let's explain how:
Firstly, you are likely breathing in more MP than you realize. The exhaust from your clothes dryer is full of MP from your synthetic clothing. Brake dust has MP. If you live in a city it's everywhere.
If you wear a face mask (like they wanted us to during covid) you are inhaling a mega-dose of MPs, especially if you wear it multiple times.
The respiratory tract is remarkable. Tiny hairs in your nose are designed to trap particles and bacteria so they won't enter the lungs. Mucus in your nasal passages and upper airways helps.
Once MPs make it around these hairs you can pull them down into your lungs. Once again, there are tiny cilia (cells with small hairs) designed to lift trapped particles out of the airway. If you're a smoker you probably damaged these cells. Still, MPs are small enough to evade these.
MPs penetrate the small airways and alveoli - this is the location of oxygen transfer. They are small little sacs filled with air with blood vessels and lymphatic vessels surrounding them. This is where MPs cause damage.
As we've talked about before, MPs cause cellular damage. They lead to chronic inflammation and induce ROS. Both of these can lead to cell death or reduced function.
If you haven't already, I suggest you read through my pinned post and learn more about how this occurs.
Epithelial Barrier
MPs in the lungs have been shown to alter surfactant within the alveoli, a substance that is necessary for proper functioning. This puts people with asthma or COPD at particularly increased risk. There is also evidence of MPs penetrating the epithelial barrier within the alveoli, indicating there is significant damage.
Cytotoxicity and Cell Death
Studies indicate MPs penetrate the epithelial cells within the alveoli. In vitro experiments demonstrate this leads to an increase in apoptotic signals (cell death) within the epithelial cells. Smaller particles seem to cause worse damage.
Inflammation
MPs are pro-inflammatory. They cause an increase in TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β, IL-8, NF-κβ, and TGF-β. These are associated with common lung diseases such as asthma and pulmonary fibrosis.
Oxidative Stress
MPs increase ROS production, and there is evidence they decrease antioxidants like glutathione peroxidase and others. An increase in ROS leads to cellular damage in any organ, including the lungs.
---------------
Mitigation Techniques
> Do not wear a face mask - these things break down quickly. You are inhaling MPs directly into your airways.
> Limit occupational exposure - if you work in an occupation where you'll be exposed to MPs, make sure you are in a well-ventilated room. For example, if you're a plumber working with PVC, you must ensure there is good airflow whenever possible.
> Move out of the city - you are drowning in MP from car tires, brakes, and an overall higher concentration of MPs
> Don't damage your lungs - stop smoking (crack, cigarettes, weed, vapes)
------------
This form of MP exposure is probably the hardest to prevent and certainly the hardest to study. You should do everything you can to avoid inhaled microplastics.
Make sure you follow @docanarchy and @RenHealthMag for more information on microplastics in the future.

Microplastics are causing Gallstones
The rate of acute cholecystitis (acute gallbladder inflammation) has trended up for at least the last decade. Doctors don't understand why.
It's the microplastics... at least they play a large role. Allow me to explain:
Gallstones are the most common cause.
Microplastics Form Gallstones
I've already discussed what MPs are and how they get into you. If you missed that, read my pinned tweet and you'll find it in the Master Thread. This is mandatory reading.
The main routes of exposure here are oral and transcutaneous (skin) exposure. Inhalation is less likely to play a significant role.
The purpose of the gallbladder is to store and concentrate bile. Bile is continuously created in the liver and released into the bile ducts. It travels down the cystic duct into the gallbladder. This organ stores and concentrates bile.
When you eat a fatty meal, the gallbladder contracts and releases bile into the small intestine. This helps break down fats so they can be broken down and absorbed.
Bile is made by liver cells through a complex series of steps I won't get into. Suffice it to say, if there's microplastic in the blood (there is) then it'll find its way into the bile.
Gallstones form when your bile becomes too concentrated and form into a stone. These stones can be sharp and jagged or simply too large to pass through the small cystic duct. When the gallbladder contracts after you eat a fatty meal it squeezes against these stones and causes pain. It becomes inflamed and infected and is often surgically removed.
The main mechanism of gallstone formation related to MPs is the direct inclusion of MPs within bile.
MPs bind to cholesterol within the bile and form "cholesterol-microplastic heteroaggregates." This leads to more gallstone formation and bigger gallstone formation - both of which increase the risk of acute cholecystitis.
Microplastics also contribute to gallstone formation through an indirect mechanism.
As we'll discuss another day, oral ingestion of microplastic causes significant alterations in the gut microbiome. There is evidence that these changes affect the deconjugation of bile salts, a necessary step for bile formation. This is normally done by gut bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium.
Without this step, cholesterol can build up in the gallbladder. When it comes in contact with microplastics you risk forming cholesterol-microplastic heteroaggregates and therefore gallstones.
The two mechanisms:
Direct - MPs form cholesterol-microplastic heteroaggregates within the gallbladder
Indirect - MPs disrupt gut microbiota, altering bile composition, increasing risk of cholesterol-microplastic heteroaggregate formation
----------
The evidence is becoming clear. If you aren't staying up to date on this topic, you're putting yourself and your family at risk.
I strongly suggest you follow @docanarchy and @RenHealthMag so you can be informed.
Also, please like this post, bookmark it, retweet it, share it with those you care about.
Microplastics aren't going away. You should take the necessary steps to protect yourself. I will help you.
