@Anthony40084560 Flap retraction is part of the takeoff and climb out procedure. Flaps are extended on the ground before takeoff to increase the lift at low speeds. The Air India pilot clearly made a huge mistake that caused the crash.

There's a sole survivor of the Air India flight AI171 Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 crash near Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025. The survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British Indian, sat in seat 11A near the emergency window. Based on the video, I observe that the flying object is likely the emergency door that Vishwash opened before the crash, which probably contributed to or exacerbated the hard landing. The object in the video is likely the plane's emergency exit door, from which Vishwash probably jumped out.
