I am a first class engineering graduate, and I can tell you for free that this "nonchalant first class" is a bit of a myth. People love the idea of an effortless genius who parties all semester and then clears a 5.0 with three days of reading. In engineering, such stories usually end very early. You’ll remember I once told you how I read for 24 hours to score an A in Thermodynamics. If there was a way to do it without the sweat, I would have been the first to sign up. My school, Unilorin, is not built to favor the person who plays around. Those guys who were making 4.90 in 100 level while looking like they weren't trying... most of them went off the radar by the time we hit 300 level. The work caught up to them because you cannot cheat the system once the courses get technical. I also got to know early on that what people call nonchalance is usually just a very well-hidden work ethic. You see the football and the leisure because that is what is visible, but you do not see the hours they put in when the doors are closed. I know friends who did this. If you are still a student, note this: Even a genius will struggle if they do not prepare ✌️
