The issue is that I'm not naive; I recognize that no Presidential candidate could miraculously transform Nigeria within the next 1 year, let alone six months. What matters is whether the government is heading in the right direction—I don't anticipate instant, comprehensive change.

Electronic collation will bring confusion. It's funny how some people fail to understand the risks involved. If a party is losing an election, they might resort to hacking the INEC portal to disrupt the process and trigger a cancellation, leading to a re-run. So, for those advocating for electronic systems, it's crucial to understand the implications. The BVAS system has proven effective, and the overall process isn't flawed. What's needed are active and trustworthy agents who can ensure proper procedures at the Polling Units and secure a copy of form EC8A after voting. This can be used to contest election results if there are discrepancies between the figures on the form and those declared by INEC.

INEC has insisted that electronic collation of results is illegal in Nigeria. The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, made the clarification. Oyekanmi clarified that the result viewing portal was not for collating election results or determining the winner; neither was the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System an electronic voting machine. When asked how results from the polling units would be transmitted after voting had been concluded in the governorship polls in the three states, Oyekanmi explained, “Polling unit election results, also known as Form EC8As, will be uploaded directly to the INEC Result Viewing Portal from the individual PUs by the presiding officers after the close of poll and declaration of results at that level. “Presiding Officers are expected to use the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System to snap the Form EC8A and upload the same to the IReV after the conclusion of all processes at the various polling units. “However, people need to understand that the IReV is not for collating election results or determining the winner, while the BVAS is also not an electronic voting machine. “To be sure, electronic voting or collation of results is illegal in Nigeria at the moment. All that the IReV portal does is just to display the Form EC8A uploaded from the polling units for the public to see. “The process for determining and declaring the winner of a governorship election is well encapsulated in section 179 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” Speaking on the logistics arrangement the commission had made for the distribution of materials given the strike declared by the organised labour in Imo State, the chief press secretary noted, “In the area of logistics for Imo State, we already have an agreement with individual vehicle owners and the NURTW (National Union of Road Transport Workers), Imo State Chapter, for forward and reverse logistics. “We will fulfill all our obligations and we expect the other parties to fulfill their obligations too. We have not received any information to the contrary.”

The Nigerian Navy on Friday affirmed that it had taken delivery of the Presidential yacht. they said, “It was delivered in June 2023. We have not used it yet.” The Director of Information, Nigerian Navy, Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, said, that the yacht had been in the country since June, 2023. He explained that the service made a “long overdue request” for the replacement of the defunct presidential yacht during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. He stressed that the yacht was for training. the naval spokesperson said, “It was delivered in June 2023. We have not used it yet.” When asked if the inability to pay for the yacht was responsible for the delay in using it, he stated, “Correct. It’s tied to the non-payment.” This implies that until the payment is made, the navy may not be able to use it for its operational activities. “Under the immediate past administration, a long overdue request was made for a Presidential yacht to replace MV AMARIA, the defunct Presidential yacht. It was also to be used for the Presidential Fleet Review 2023 that was held in May this year.” the Senate has summoned an emergency sitting. The meeting which was communicated on Friday night was initially scheduled for Saturday morning but was shifted to Monday. According to Adaramodu, the meeting was fixed to adopt the Votes and Proceedings of Thursday plenary. He said, “The plenary has been shifted to Monday. We had initially fixed Saturday but we discovered that many senators had gone to be with their constituents. The session is just to adopt the votes and proceedings of Thursday Plenary. “We were behind time on Thursday based on various committee meetings, so we couldn’t adopt the votes and proceedings. A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has ordered the state government to pay the sum of N30 billion charge awarded against it over unlawful demolition of structures and property at Kofar-Mata Eid-ground. The court issued the Kano State Government a 7-day ultimatum for the payment to be made. Justice Simon Amobeda at the hearing of the motion on stay of execution moved by the state government held that he would not dismiss the motion on stay. The Justice ordered the debtors/applicants to pay the N30 billion judgment sum into the court’s interest-yielding account to be obtained from the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court within the specified timeline. The court ruled that the deposited sum, along with accruing interests and after deducting administrative charges, would be paid to the party who succeeds in the appeal as determined by the Deputy Chief Registrar of the court.

BREAKING: The House of Representatives has dropped the N5 billion Presidential yacht from the 2023 supplementary budget. I've conducted my fact-checking, and it know that the yacht is part of the Navy budget, and the cars intended for the First Lady's use are Hilux vehicles for her convoy. The concern here is how the average person on the street can comprehend these details. People like myself often work at the grassroots level, trying to help others understand that the government has their best interests in mind and urging them to be patient. However, situations like this are detrimental to the government's public image. Not everyone is well-versed in politics or the intricacies of government operations. To the common man who struggles to afford a decent meal, the prevailing narrative is that the President has allocated 1.5 billion for his wife to purchase luxury cars and budgeted billions for a yacht to be cruising. It's a matter of timing and perhaps the need for more transparency in explaining these allocations. Why should there even be a budget for the First Lady's cars? This creates negative public perception and is not what the common man on the street wants to hear or see at this moment. It risks eroding their faith in the government and may make those of us who try to instill hope appear disingenuous.

@officialABAT should recognize that Nigerians are deeply concerned. If the First Lady desires a luxurious car, she should use her personal funds for it. Additionally, the allocation for a yacht at this time is perplexing, especially when the government is asking citizens to make sacrifices while spending lavishly. The money spent by our political elite on imported cars in just one year could significantly alleviate poverty. If the government wishes to indulge, it should do so across the board, rather than subjecting Nigerians to unnecessary hardship. We elected you to serve the people, not to lead luxurious lifestyles. No explanation can justify this budget, and if such spending continues, it will erode public trust. I do not support this budget and expect better from the government.
