Speaker Mike Johnson entered the week with the liberal media gloating about how he could never deliver on the three major issues the House had to deal with this week — FISA, funding our border, and our much-needed Farm Bill. He not only delivered all three of these — he also finally delivered funding to TSA, FEMA, the Secret Service, and the Coast Guard after the Democrats rejected that funding four previous times in the House.

Today during the @HouseAppropsGOP full committee markup of the FY27 Agriculture funding bill, I opposed an amendment to make it easier for taxpayer-subsidized solar development on prime farmland, and the committee rejected it. On the Eastern Shore, that land grows the corn and soybeans our poultry industry depends on, and it should remain in production. The same fight is happening in Maryland, where SB 931, backed by Governor Wes Moore and Annapolis Democrats, took control over these projects from Eastern Shore counties. Local communities, not Annapolis, should have a say in protecting working farmland.

MORE DELAYS: It has been more than two years since the Key Bridge collapsed, and @GovWesMoore has once again delayed the rebuilding of this critical bridge by canceling the contract with the sole contractor on the project, Kiewit. The project will now have to go back out to bid, creating yet another setback for Maryland families, commuters, and small businesses who depend on this vital corridor. Reading between the lines, it’s clear costs have spiraled out of control. Kiewit’s bid was shaped by Governor Wes Moore’s aggressive DBE/DEI participation goals, reportedly as high as 31.5%, along with Project Labor Agreement requirements. Those mandates appear to have driven the projected cost to well over $5 billion, compared to the original estimate of $1.8 billion. Maryland is counting on the federal government to pay for most of the bridge rebuild. U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has indicated that the project is plagued by ballooning costs, delays, and the need for aggressive federal oversight. The federal government will not write a blank check for Governor Wes Moore’s costly DEI mandates and union giveaways that will cost taxpayers billions in additional expenses. The Key Bridge is too important to be mired in delays, mismanagement, and rising costs. Marylanders deserve transparency about what went wrong, what this delay will cost, and how the state plans to get this project back on track. At this point, it is clear that additional federal oversight or partnership may be necessary to ensure this project is delivered efficiently, affordably, and without further delay. @MDFreedomCaucus @SecDuffy @RepAndyHarrisMD

After Saturday’s assassination attempt on President Trump, it is insane that Secret Service agents are still unpaid and DHS is still unfunded. These agents should not be held hostage by Democrats’ demands. Pass the bill. Fully fund DHS.

Praying for President Trump, everyone at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and the law enforcement officers responding to this disturbing incident. Violence has no place in this country. Grateful for those working to keep everyone safe.
