The sacrifice of Emily Barker, Nick Hutcherson, and Sydney Watson will not be forgotten. While we cannot adequately thank our first responders for their service, we can focus on legislation that helps us better prepare for wildfires. The Fix Our Forests Act will increase coordination so wildfire agencies can better prepare for fire season and prevent these catastrophic wildfires. It’s time that the Senate finishes the job and sends the bill to the President’s desk. As this weekend has shown, Utah cannot wait any longer.

We tragically lost three brave firefighters who were protecting our communities this weekend. I am praying for their families and those close to the impacted area. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten. I am grateful to the many first responders working tirelessly to protect us. Please stay alert and do what you can to support your neighbors and those on the front lines.

The wildfires happening across Utah are devastating, and my prayers are with those impacted. It’s important that we do our part to stay alert, follow guidelines, and not further strain local fire department resources. The Utah delegation is honored to participate in this incredible effort to preserve this moment in our history for future generations. We submitted two items for the Semiquincentennial Congressional Time Capsule: the program from the Martha Hughes Cannon statue dedication ceremony in the U.S. Capitol and a bell from the 2034 Utah Olympics with the date the IOC chose Utah as the host of the 2034 games engraved on the back. These items represent significant cultural milestones for Utah both in Washington and in the state.

The Great American State Fair is open to the public and Utah’s booth is by far the best!
