As we await liftoff, I am proud to honor and celebrate the workers in Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District who are helping NASA’s Artemis II mission reach the Moon. Today, I visited the hardworking Georgians at Timber Products Inspection, Universal Environmental Services, and GM Diecron who manufacture components, ensure secure logistics, and supply the launch system for NASA’s historic Artemis II mission. May today be a day we proudly remember, as humanity pursues our manifest destiny into the stars!

Today, we PASSED a new Farm Bill in the U.S. House of Representatives, for the first time since 2018. Introduced as the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, this legislation delivers BIG WINS for farmers and consumers. Over 500 organizations — including the National Chicken Council and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association — endorsed this bill. 209 Republicans, 14 Democrats, and 1 Independent voted YES on its passage.

Thank you to Georgia EMC (@Georgia_EMC) and electric membership cooperatives from across our Congressional District for visiting Capitol Hill today! We discussed support for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Utilities Service, proposed legislation to expedite FEMA reimbursements, and the importance of permitting reform and its ability to lower costs for customers in our District.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge: Omar, Juliet, Wade, and Alaina from Carrollton High School! The students’ application, “NxtSteps”, will help guide high school students through the college application process using interactive grade-level maps to help prospective college applicants reach critical milestones. I had the privilege of spending time with these incredible students and their wonderful families this week, and I was honored to recognize their achievement during a committee hearing on the app-based economy.   From academics to athletics, Carrollton High School continues to produce champions and inspire excellence.

Today, in response to ongoing wildfires across parts of Georgia, Governor Kemp declared a State of Emergency for 91 Georgia counties, including Harris and Muscogee Counties in our District. I join my colleagues in mourning the passing of Congressman David Scott. David represented our neighboring 13th Congressional District of Georgia for 12 terms, and he made history as the first Georgian to serve as Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture. May we lift up the family and friends of Congressman Scott in prayer during this difficult time.

Today, I visited the University of West Georgia to deliver a $637,520 federal investment in safety and infrastructure improvements on the campus of the University of West Georgia. Under the leadership of its new president, Dr. Michael Johnson – a U.S. Marine Corps veteran – the University of West Georgia is one of the fastest-growing universities in Georgia. I am immensely proud to represent the West Georgia Wolves and the Carroll County community in Congress, and this federal partnership will ensure the future leaders of Georgia and our Country enjoy a safe and secure environment as they prepare to be the workforce of tomorrow. #GoWest #UWG

Today, I visited the @cityofhope Cancer Center in Newnan to deliver $1.98 million in federal funding I secured for cancer prevention and early detection. This funding will support the development of new technology that will optimize the way physicians screen and treat patients by synthesizing extensive oncology data to identify the best preventive therapies and treatments. The City of Hope Cancer Center is one of our Country’s leading cancer centers, and our Congressional District is very proud to call it home and support its breakthrough research!

Today, I was honored to join military and Troup County leaders to re-open the Georgia National Guard armory in LaGrange, home to the 1177th Transportation Company. The Georgia National Guard operates three armories across our District: in Newnan, Griffin, and now LaGrange, once again. During this Congress, I proudly voted to fully fund our Department of Defense, which enabled the redevelopment of our armory in LaGrange. As your Representative in Congress, I will always champion the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces!

For all high school students across Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District, the 2026 Congressional Art Competition is officially open! Our Congressional District mourns the tragic loss of Thomas “Wayne” Reynolds, a Georgian whose life was taken away by a criminal illegal alien in a deadly motor vehicle accident. Today, President Trump’s Administration announced the arrest of the individual who caused the accident, an illegal alien from Guatemala with a prior history of criminal acts, including a hit-and-run. Wayne Reynolds was a motor grader, who spent more than 40 years building the roads on which our community relies. Wayne was a resident of our Congressional District, and a very proud father of 5 children and grandfather of 10 grandchildren. I am working closely with the Reynolds family to deliver swift justice for a life taken far too early, and a family now without a father, a grandfather, and a role model.

On this day in 1923, Colonel Joe Madison Jackson, an American hero, was born in Newnan, Georgia. After graduating from Newnan High School, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, the predecessor of the U.S. Air Force. Eventually earning the rank of Colonel, Joe Jackson served with distinction in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. During the Battle of Kham Duc of the Vietnam War in 1968, Colonel Jackson demonstrated extraordinary courage by flying his aircraft through intense enemy fire to rescue three stranded servicemen. For his bravery during that mission, Colonel Jackson was presented the Medal of Honor by President Lyndon B. Johnson on January 16, 1969. Colonel Jackson retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1974 after more than 33 years of honorable service to our Country. Colonel Jackson will forever be remembered as one of the greatest Americans from Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District!

This week, I led the floor debate on my resolution to advance legislation to end the ongoing Democrats' Homeland Security Shutdown. Our Republican Majority in the House passed my resolution and voted to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security at a time when threats to our Country are rising. Senate Democrats must act and end their Homeland Security Shutdown!

President Trump’s State of the Union address was exceptional. The stories he wove into his speech accentuated our record of achievement over the past year, and the honors he bestowed upon our great heroes captured the essence of what has made our Country the greatest of all. The data President Trump presented to the American people is inarguable: ✅  Our Border is secure ✅  Gas prices are down ✅  Mortgage rates are low ✅  The stock market continues to hit all-time highs ✅  American energy production is at record levels And, passage and enactment of our Working Families Tax Cut and the resulting economic success has already lifted 2.4 million Americans off of food stamps, a generational impact for hardworking American families. Indeed, the State of our Union is STRONG, and the Golden Age of America is upon us!

Congratulations, @USAHockey, on winning the Gold Medal! Before today, only 37 Americans — from the trailblazing 1960 squad and the Miracle on Ice 1980 team — had ever won an Olympic Gold Medal in Men’s Hockey. Now, 25 Americans — led by the heroic performance of Connor Hellebuyck — from the 2026 team join this exclusive club. Our Country’s men’s and women’s hockey teams are now the best in the world! God Bless the USA! 🇺🇸
