50 years ago, Congress passed the Safe Drinking Water Act—legislation that set national standards for drinking water quality.   I joined @EPA to reflect on the progress we’ve made and the work that remains to ensure everyone has access to safe and affordable drinking water.

Today, we celebrate two years of the Respect for Marriage Act—a bill which protects same-sex and interracial marriage rights in federal law. I was proud to help pass this important legislation to ensure that every American can marry the person they love.

Ran into a former class of 2012 colleague today @SenDuckworth! We entered into Congress together & she's done great work for the people of Illinois in the U.S. Senate. I’m often asked what I will miss the most about Congress and, for me, it’s the friendships like these.

Congratulations to Saginaw’s Diya Ramakrishnan on winning Michigan’s Eighth District Congressional App Challenge! The app she created will help better diagnose serious health conditions, like cancer. As a cancer survivor, I understand the importance of early detection tools like these. Today, we honor and remember the 2,403 American service members and civilians who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor. Their bravery and courage will not be forgotten.

I was proud to help pass the new law that is bringing federal funding back to Michigan to create jobs and support auto manufacturing. November is National Diabetes Month. I was proud to cap the cost of insulin at $35/month for seniors on Medicare, but too many Americans still struggle to afford this life-saving drug. My bill, the Affordable Insulin Now Act, would cap the price of insulin for ALL Americans, regardless of their insurer.

As Co-Chair of the Congressional PFAS Task Force, I introduced a bipartisan bill to designate a point person at the @DeptofDefense to engage with PFAS-impacted communities. I’ve loved every minute of serving mid-Michigan in Congress, but my time as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives will come to an end on January 2nd. I’m pleased to see the Senate pass my bill to defend Michigan agriculture from harmful pests and diseases. The House should take up and pass my Beagle Brigade Act to protect our farmers and food supply.
