In a recent survey, more than 85% of respondents in Ohio's Fourteenth Congressional District agree that the current system of changing the clocks isn't working. That's why I voted for the Sunshine Protection Act to make Daylight Saving Time permanent, keeping the evenings brighter year-round.

Today, as Chairman of the @HouseAppropsGOP Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee, I questioned Administrator Loeffler on the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) spending plan for the remainder of fiscal year (FY) 2026, including its FY 2026 supplemental request. The SBA plays an important role in supporting our small businesses and helping our economy grow. That's why today's hearing was an important opportunity for members of the Committee to better understand the SBA’s priorities for FY 2027. Today, I chaired the @HouseAppropsGOP Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee hearing on the Supreme Court’s FY2027 budget request and questioned Justices Kagan and Coney Barrett about the Court’s need for enhanced security, modern IT infrastructure, and sufficient staffing. It is imperative the highest court has the resources it needs to operate safely and effectively.

The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act will help expand our housing supply, lower costs, and make homeownership more attainable for Northeast Ohio families. I was proud to see this legislation become law over the weekend, and I will continue fighting to lower the cost of living for the American people.

Kelly and I are saddened by the news of Lindsey Graham’s passing. Helping Ohio families invest in their children's future is an important step toward ensuring the American Dream is accessible to the next generation. July is UV Safety Awareness Month, a reminder of the importance of effective sunscreen. My bill, the SAFE Sunscreen Standards Act, which was signed into law, is helping expand access to new FDA-approved sunscreen ingredients, like bemotrizinol, giving Americans access to higher-quality sunscreens that provide better UV protection and help prevent harmful sun exposure this summer.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, our forefathers came together to codify our nation's independence and change the course of human history. Their ideas of freedom, liberty, and democracy — while radical then — became the guiding light for nations across the globe. Since then, America has changed dramatically. Wars have been fought, our borders have expanded, yet the values and ideals of this nation have remained the same: if you put your mind to something, you will have the freedom and opportunity to achieve it. We owe a debt to so many for our successes. The men and women who fought overseas to protect us, the workers who built this country from the ground up, and the leaders who guided us through our darkest moments all deserve our deepest gratitude. As we reflect on the values of the United States and the heroes who fought to uphold them, we must commit to continuing their legacy. I am so proud of how far this country has come, and I am excited and hopeful for what the next two hundred and fifty years brings. God Bless America, and Happy Fourth of July!

With the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence tomorrow, it is important that we remember the men and women who have fought and died to preserve that first promise of freedom. I want to thank the countless veterans in Ohio’s 14 Congressional District whose commitment and service have protected our communities and upheld the values of our nation for 250 years.

Tomorrow marks one year since the Working Families Tax Cuts were signed into law. This piece of legislation has lowered tax rates for millions of Americans and working-class families, with the average taxpayer in Ohio saving $3,173 on their taxes.

As we celebrate America’s 250-year story, we look to Ashtabula County where Alexander Harper, a Colonel who served in the Revolutionary War, founded what is modern day Harpersfield Township. After fighting for independence, Col. Harper was one of the earliest known settlers of Northeast Ohio, leaving a legacy that helped shape the Western Reserve.
