For two and a half months, the men and women of the Department of Homeland Security have served our country with unwavering dedication, without a consistent paycheck or proper funding.   This shutdown was not inevitable. At the start of the year, appropriators on both sides of the aisle reached a responsible funding agreement for DHS. However, Democrats walked away from that deal, forced this harmful shutdown, and insisted on maintaining it for months despite threats to our national security, federal workers' paychecks, and the President's life.   This week, House Republicans took decisive action, employing a twin-track approach, to restore funding to the majority of DHS, including TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard, while also laying the groundwork to fund Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. While this shutdown was incredibly disruptive, I am proud to finally put an end to this chaos. As a member of the Homeland Security Committee, ensuring the communities of Northeast Ohio and our nation are protected is my top priority.

Ohio's farmers feed our families and fuel our economy. Strengthening crop insurance, lowering energy costs, investing in rural infrastructure, and giving tax breaks to family farms are just some of the wins for Buckeye farmers in this year's Farm Bill.

The FY27 Agriculture Appropriations bill makes real investments for our farmers and rural communities in Northeast Ohio. I was proud to join my colleagues on @HouseAppropsGOP to mark up and advance this bill out of committee.
