As a fourth-generation Valley farmer, I know how essential affordable and abundant water is to our Valley’s economy and grocery prices. Droughts and shortages have increased our groceries prices. That’s why I secured $51.5 million for Valley water projects. Additionally, I ensured that the Army Corps of Engineers' primary mission is water supply, which will cut our grocery prices, create good-paying jobs, and protect our communities from flooding.

Our Valley’s water crisis demands action. Raising Shasta Dam by 18.5 feet would add 634,000 acre-feet of storage - water for our families, farms, and wildlife. I’m working in Congress to provide $2.5B to fund this project.

Today, I joined a @NatResources roundtable to explore how Congress can give tribes more autonomy to develop thriving economies, safe streets, and good healthcare. I am proud to fight for our California tribes. It was great to see my friends from @AguaCalienteNDN.

This week, I joined local water leaders to celebrate a historic win for our Valley: 130,000 acre-feet of new storage at San Luis Reservoir! More water = reliable supply for 2M families, 1M acres of farmland, & vital habitats. Our jobs, grocery prices, and our future depend on it! 💧

🚨Families in the Valley are paying too much for energy, and @RepYoungKim’s HEATS Act will change that. By expanding geothermal energy production, we’ll deliver cheaper power, create good-paying jobs, and produce more energy in the United States.

With housing prices soaring, it’s getting harder for families in the Valley to find affordable homes. That’s why I cosponsored the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act, which provides tax credits for building homes in low-income areas, giving working families a chance to own a home. I’ll continue fighting for solutions that make homeownership possible for our hardworking Valley families.

On Friday, I joined @RepDavidValadao in introducing a Sikh Genocide Resolution to stand with the Sikh community and recognize the past and ongoing atrocities. In 1984, the Indian Army violently assaulted the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Akal Takht Sahib, and the Sikh Reference Library, leading to many innocent religious members' deaths. The Sikh community suffered horrific massacres throughout India for decades. For years, Sikh lives in Punjab were attacked and repressed. Even today, Sikhs are profiled, attacked, discriminated against, and assassinated. I am proud to acknowledge these atrocities to support justice, healing, and recognition for our Sikh community.

Californians spend the most on groceries of any continental state in America, despite growing most of the nation’s food supply. That’s unacceptable and why I introduced the Supply Chain Improvement Act.   I am proud it will soon reduce delays in getting goods to market, improve our economy, and lower our grocery prices. I will continue fighting to lower unnecessary costs to make life affordable again.

Gas prices in our valley aren’t getting any cheaper, and Sacramento’s policies aren’t helping. Our hard-working families cannot afford the highest gas tax and costly regulations. I’ll continue to fight for common-sense solutions to lower inflation and energy prices.
Mike Garcia@MikeGarciaCA27

California’s out-of-control regulations are killing our economy. With gas prices already sky-high, the last thing families need is an $0.85 per gallon price hike from CARB’s reckless policies. I joined @RepSteel and @RepDavidValadao to demand accountability and transparency. Enough is enough—California can’t afford more bad decisions from Sacramento.

Unfair trade practices are hurting our Valley farmers, our economy, and our grocery prices. That’s why I supported the Prioritizing Offensive Agricultural Disputes and Enforcement Act. This bill fights unfair trade practices and levels the playing field for our farmers. Our Valley families deserve a better economy and cheaper groceries, which I’ll continue to fight for as your representative.

Inflation is hitting our Valley communities harder than Sacramento, L.A., and S.F. For example, rural grocery price inflation is over 2% higher than large cities.   That’s why I supported, authored, and cosponsored bills to build Valley water projects, secure more water, and empower local water leaders who know how to reduce our grocery prices and grow our economy better than Sacramento and Washington.

Reckless government spending has caused grocery prices to soar by almost 20% over the past 3.5 years.   I’m addressing them by securing more water and improving logistics. First, I cosponsored the WATER for California Act to secure more water, empower local leaders, and increase Shasta Dam’s height in my first month in office. Then, I introduced the Supply Chain Improvement Act and cosponsored the Farm-to-Market Roads Act – all to make your groceries affordable. I’m 100% committed to reducing your grocery prices in every possible way.
