Making life safer, more affordable, and better for New Mexicans is a team effort, and I am committed to working in close partnership with NM-02’s local leaders to get the job done. Yesterday, I met with Mayor of Los Lunas Charles Griego and members of the Los Lunas City Council to discuss construction of the Los Lunas Boulevard and plans for improving other key infrastructure like roads, waterways, and sidewalks.

Another week down, another week of Congressional Republicans failing to let us vote on any meaningful bills to bring down costs for Americans. That's why I just introduced the Energy Bills Relief Act. We can, and we should, be working across the aisle to make energy bills affordable again.

It’s vital to continue to support our Pueblos, and I want to thank Governor Charles Riley and 2nd Lt. Governor Augustine Seymour Jr. of the Pueblo of Acoma for meeting with me in my DC office this week. We discussed much-needed IHS funding for effective healthcare services and protection of cultural sites like Chaco. I look forward to our ongoing partnership to deliver resources for Acoma Pueblo.

Keeping our kids safe is one of my top priorities. I’m thrilled to see federal money I secured for our district is helping do just that. This $1.06 million win will give Albuquerque police the additional cameras and tools they need to prevent violent crime, including in our schools. I’m headed home to New Mexico after the last vote of the week. Noem is out. Now DHS needs serious leadership and serious reform.

My statement on Secretary Noem’s removal:

For decades, federal law recognized our veterans’ service by exempting them from SNAP work requirements. That was until the Republican tax law took that away. I tried to improve the Farm Bill by rolling back these cuts and ensuring no veteran is forced to go hungry after serving their country. It’s shameful that most of my Republican colleagues voted it down and told our vets that their sacrifice isn’t enough.
