Each day the DHS shutdown continues, it jeopardizes the safety of Americans and creates worsening financial hardship for the frontline DHS personnel who work hard every day to protect the homeland. With these risks growing by the day, it is critical that we hear directly from the Coast Guard, TSA, FEMA, and CISA next week about how this shutdown is impacting their operations, workforce, and our homeland security. foxnews.com/politics/exclu…

It is critical that our law enforcement officers and first responders are as prepared as possible amid an evolving terror threat landscape. These delayed classes are yet another example of how the Democrats’ DHS shutdown may be leaving America vulnerable to increasing threats. “Our homeland security should not be held up by Washington’s partisan gridlock.” - @RepGarbarino nypost.com/2026/03/14/us-…

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone on Long Island and across the country. The Irish community has helped shape who we are, from our neighborhoods to our small businesses and first responders. Stay safe and enjoy the day!🍀

Great to join the @LongIslandAssoc “What’s New in Washington” event this morning. Thanks to Stacey Sikes for moderating a productive conversation and to my fellow Long Island colleagues. It’s always good to talk with Long Island leaders about the issues that matter most to our region and ways to keep Long Island prosperous.

I joined @RepLaLota and our New York and New Jersey colleagues in pressing for answers on reported staffing shortages, long wait times, and claims delays at the World Trade Center Health Program. Our 9/11 first responders and survivors deserve better. We fought to secure funding for the program, and I’ll keep pushing to make sure it delivers the care these heroes and their families were promised.

Good to see the progress being made on the New Terminal One @JFKairport today. This project is a major investment in the future of New York’s infrastructure and will help strengthen one of the busiest international gateways in the country. I appreciated the opportunity to see the construction work underway firsthand.

Making housing more affordable is one of the biggest challenges facing families on Long Island and across the country. The House has already taken meaningful steps to expand supply and give communities more tools to address housing shortages. With the Senate now acting on its version of housing legislation, the next step is clear: we should move to conference and work through the differences so we can deliver a final bill that actually helps bring down costs. I’m committed to working with my colleagues in both chambers to get a housing package across the finish line.

Horrific news out of West Bloomfield Township, Michigan. I’m praying for the safety of our first responders and the entire Jewish community. I’m grateful for the swift response from law enforcement who moved quickly to secure the scene and protect lives. Antisemitic violence has no place in this country. We stand with the Jewish community.

More than 50,000 frontline TSA workers are getting a $0 paycheck this week. Call-outs are rising across the country, and security wait times are reaching up to three hours. TSA personnel play a critical role in protecting the flying public, but now they are worrying about how to pay the bills. Democrats need to stop using DHS personnel as political pawns and vote to pass long-term funding for the department.

EXCLUSIVE: More than 300 TSA officials have quit during the latest DHS shutdown, with call out rates more than doubling at airports nationwide. Earlier this month, half of officers at Houston’s Hobby Airport called out, as hospots climb. Read @CBSNews 👇cbsnews.com/news/tsa-absen…

New York’s hospitals stepped up when our communities needed them most during the COVID-19 pandemic. After working closely with FEMA and our hospital systems to push this process forward, I’m glad long-overdue reimbursements are finally being released to hospitals like Northwell Health, Catholic Health, Mount Sinai Health System, and NewYork-Presbyterian. Our hospitals deserve every dollar they are owed.

If successful, the results of this plot could have been devastating. Grateful for the work of the NYPD to protect the public and work alongside federal partners to assess any further threats to the area. 25 years after 9/11, the threat of terror on U.S. soil has evolved but not subsided. Vigilance is essential, and DHS needs long-term funding immediately to succeed in its no-fail mission.

Heartbroken to learn of the passing of NYPD Police Officer Sorffly Davius, who died while deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Epic Fury. Officer Davius served our country as a Major in the U.S. Army National Guard and our communities as an officer in the 79th Precinct. We are grateful for his service and sacrifice. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, the NYPD, and all who served alongside him.
NYPD NEWS@NYPDnews

The NYPD mourns the loss of Police Officer Sorffly Davius, who passed away yesterday as a result of a medical episode while deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Epic Fury. Officer Davius served in the 42nd Infantry Division in the U.S. Army National Guard and rose to the rank of Major. In 2014, he began his service with the NYPD where he was assigned to the 79th Precinct. Today, and always, we keep his family in our thoughts and prayers. May we never forget Officer Davius’ sacrifice and may his memory be a blessing.

Chairman @RepGarbarino is right: the Democrats’ REFUSAL to fund DHS “means a disruption in standard operations for DHS components that manage disaster preparedness, transportation security, and critical infrastructure resilience, as well as interagency coordination with other executive branch partners.” REOPEN DHS NOW!

Illegal Chinese vapes are flooding the U.S., targeting kids and even reaching communities near military installations. That should concern every American. I was glad to join Congressman Carey and my colleagues in urging Treasury Secretary Bessent and United States Trade Representative Greer to curb these illegal imports. washingtonreporter.news/exclusive-71-l…

I look forward to working with Senator Markwayne Mullin in his role as Homeland Security Secretary and urge his swift confirmation. But first things first: Democrats must fund the Department of Homeland Security. Playing political games with our security puts American lives at risk.

🚨Chairman @RepGarbarino joined @marthamaccallum to discuss President Trump’s new nominee to lead DHS, @SenMullin, and urged Democrats to end their dangerous shutdown ahead of major events on U.S. soil: “I am excited to have Senator Mullin as the new secretary. I have a great working relationship with him.” “We are still being put at a lot of risk here in the country because of this shutdown Democrats have caused...Before he is secretary, we need to make sure everything gets funded and opened back up, because he is going to have a very busy schedule––with FIFA [and] with America 250.”
