Good news: The House of Representatives unanimously passed the bipartisan SEED Act, a bill that lets preschool teachers and other early educators get a tax deduction for money they spend out of their own pockets for classroom supplies. This weekend, we remember the brave firefighters who gave their lives to saving lives and keeping us all safe. We honor their sacrifice and hold close the families and loved ones who continue to carry their legacy forward. No public servant, including the hardworking men and women of the Coast Guard, TSA, and FEMA, should ever have to work without a paycheck or work in fear of missing a paycheck. That’s why I voted again and again to end this senseless shutdown and why I’m relieved that Speaker Johnson finally allowed the House to do our job today and fund the government.  This nonsense is costing the American people big time, and it must stop. I’m leading bipartisan legislation to prevent government shutdowns altogether and to make sure no Member of Congress gets a paycheck if hardworking public servants are forced to work without pay. I won’t quit until we get this done.

As a Congresswoman, my job is to ask the hard questions and deliver the accountability that the American people deserve.

After hours of shameless stonewalling and sketchy dodges, Secretary Hegseth finally answered an important question.

Gas prices have reached record highs, but Mr. Hegseth cannot answer the most basic questions about how much his war of choice in Iran is costing hardworking Americans at the gas pump. He has no business serving as our Secretary of Defense.

Secretary Hegseth testified that he will be accountable for every American taxpayer dollar that the Pentagon spends, so I asked for a simple breakdown of the billions of dollars he has already spent in President Trump’s war of choice in Iran. He had no answer. Make that make sense.

Goodlander: Do you agree with the statement, “the military won't follow unlawful orders.” Hegseth: I do, but understand what you're insinuating is a partisan point. Goodlander: I’m actually quoting you directly from 2016.

GOODLANDER: Do you agree with the statement, 'the military won't follow unlawful orders'? HEGSETH: I do, but-- GOODLANDER: I'm actually quoting you directly, Mr Hegseth, from April 2016

GOODLANDER: Do you know what the average cost of a gallon of gas was in this country was on February 28? HEGSETH: If you live in California, it's $8 GOODLANDER: $2.83. Do you know what the cost is today? HEGSETH: Much higher in California GOODLANDER: $4.23. You can't answer this basic question?

The right to vote is the fundamental right from which all of our rights flow. The Supreme Court's decision to dilute the voting rights and power of freedom-loving Americans by gutting critical provisions of the Voting Rights Act is dead wrong and downright dangerous. This decision undermines a fundamental promise that we make to one another as Americans: that every American deserves a fair shot to participate in our democracy.

Highlight of the King’s address to Congress today was the standing O for the cornerstone constitutional truth that executive power is subject to checks and balances. That’s an idea worth fighting for today and every day. 🇺🇸

President Trump is asking Congress for another $1.5 trillion for a department that has chronically failed to pass a clean audit. That is not good government and you deserve better.

🚨Good news: the House passed our bipartisan bill — the SEED Act. These educators deserve the same tax deduction other teachers get, and our commonsense, bipartisan bill will make that happen. Time to right this wrong and get our bill signed into law.

Brain health is a core medical issue, a core workforce issue, a moral issue—and at bottom, it’s a national security issue.

Finally, Secretary Hegseth will come before the House Armed Services Committee this week. It is time to answer for this war of choice.
