I was proud to secure $65.1M in 2022 to bring the F3 Initiative to life, helping launch the new F3i Supercomputing Center.  This investment will equip our farmers, researchers, students, and entrepreneurs with cutting-edge AI and supercomputing tools to solve real-world challenges, strengthen our agricultural economy, and keep the Central Valley leading the world in food production. San Joaquin Valley families are feeling the strain of rising housing costs every day. For most American families, owning a home is the single largest investment they will ever make. Yet for too many young families, that opportunity is slipping further out of reach. That is why I worked to pass one of the most significant housing affordability bills in a generation. This bipartisan legislation will help build more homes, increase housing supply, and make homeownership more attainable especially for our rural communities here in the Valley. President Trump called this bipartisan housing bill 'a yawn' and is now refusing to sign it over an unrelated political dispute involving the SAVE Act, legislation that would disenfranchise eligible American voters. The president has a choice to make: sign this bipartisan bill, let it become law without his signature, or veto one of the most significant housing affordability measures in a generation. nytimes.com/live/2026/07/1…

I'm proud to lead this bipartisan effort with @RepJackBergman urging @USDA to strengthen and expand food purchase programs for American-grown foods. USDA has the tools to do more for American farmers. Expanding these programs will help connect American-grown food with the communities that rely on it every day.

July is #NationalParksAndRecreationMonth—a time to celebrate the parks, trails, and public lands that bring our communities together.  Here in the San Joaquin Valley, we're fortunate to be surrounded by some of our nation's greatest natural treasures. Let's continue protecting these special places so future generations can enjoy them for years to come.

The 14th Amendment is clear: anyone born in the United States is a citizen of the United States. That has been settled law for more than 128 years, and it should never have been called into question.  The Supreme Court’s decision on birthright citizenship reaffirms that fundamental principle. America is a nation built by generations of immigrants and remains a land of freedom and opportunity for all.

This week, I met with the @Westlands_Water District to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing water management in the San Joaquin Valley. We discussed the importance of ensuring a reliable water supply, investing in critical federal water infrastructure, and responsibly operating our federal water facilities to support Valley communities, agriculture, and our economy.

Thank you to The Science Coalition @scicoalition for bringing together leaders to discuss the importance of agricultural research. Here in the San Joaquin Valley, federal investments in research help our farmers innovate, strengthen our rural economy, and protect our nation's food security. We must continue investing in the future of American agriculture.

Today marks 11 years since marriage equality became the law of the land nationwide. While we celebrate this historic milestone, we also recognize that the work to protect equality and expand opportunity for every American continues. As a member of the @EqualityCaucus, I remain committed to defending the rights and freedoms of all people to live authentically and love freely.

Within my office, we currently have more than 200 DACA cases from hardworking individuals, including teachers, firefighters, and other valued members of our communities, who are still waiting for answers. That’s why I’m urging the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to address the unacceptable DACA processing delays impacting families and communities across the Valley.

Four years ago today, we took a historic step to make our communities safer. The bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most significant federal action to address gun violence in nearly 30 years, strengthened school safety, expanded access to mental health care, and advanced commonsense gun safety measures. We must continue building on this momentum to protect our children, our schools, and our communities.

Today, I joined my colleagues to raise awareness about the Supreme Court’s decision allowing the Trump Administration to end Temporary Protected Status for hundreds of thousands of people. TPS was created by Congress on a bipartisan basis to protect those who cannot safely return home because of war, violence, or natural disasters. We can secure our borders, uphold our immigration laws, and honor our humanitarian values. America is strong enough to do both.

Protecting American agriculture means supporting the producers who keep our food supply moving. That's why New Dems are demanding answers and action from USDA to contain the New World screwworm outbreak, protect ranchers and farmers, and prevent further pressure on beef prices.
