This evening, I was honored to be recognized as the inaugural Legislator of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mississippi. I’m not just a supporter, I’m a former Club kid myself. I’ve seen firsthand how valuable the Boys & Girls Club can be for young people who need a safe place to go after school or a mentor to help guide them in the right direction. While I’m grateful for the recognition, I’m even more thankful for the dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters who work every day to ensure the Boys & Girls Clubs are there to serve the youth of Mississippi. Their work changes lives, and I’m proud to stand with them. @BGCGulfCoast @BGCA_Clubs

We are excited to announce the formation of six new House Select Committees to study key issues facing Mississippi and develop policy recommendations ahead of the 2027 Legislative Session. The newly established committees will focus on Government Efficiency, Property Taxes, Redistricting, Judicial Operations, Consolidation, and Specialty Schools. The Mississippi House of Representatives has consistently demonstrated a willingness to take on complex issues with thoughtful study, serious discussion, and deliberate action. Our Select Committee process allows members to engage stakeholders, examine policy from every angle, and build informed, conservative solutions that serve the people of Mississippi. As we prepare for the next legislative session, these six committees will focus on some of the most important structural and policy matters facing our state. Whether it is ensuring government operates more efficiently, evaluating our tax structure, strengthening our judicial system, or improving how specialized educational institutions serve Mississippi families, these committees will help shape meaningful legislation that reflects our commitment to responsible governance. Following the success of previous Select Committees, which produced substantial legislation and meaningful reforms, the House is once again taking a proactive approach to governing. By beginning this work now, we will enter the next legislative session with clear priorities, well-developed policy solutions, and a continued focus on advancing commonsense conservative leadership for Mississippi.

Honored to participate in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce Post Legislative Briefings at the Golden Nugget in Biloxi this week. It was a great opportunity to join my fellow legislators in discussing the 2026 Legislative Session, the work accomplished for the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and the challenges and opportunities ahead for our state. We covered a wide range of issues impacting our communities including education, economic development, infrastructure, public safety, healthcare, workforce development, and continued investment in the Gulf Coast region. I appreciate the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber for hosting this important event and for their continued leadership in bringing business leaders, elected officials, and community stakeholders together to have meaningful conversations about the future of our Coast and our state. Thank you to everyone who attended and stayed engaged in the legislative process. Your input and involvement matter. Photo Credit: Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce

Honored to be appointed by Speaker Jason White to serve on the House Select Committees on Government Efficiency and Specialty Schools. These committees will tackle major issues that will help shape Mississippi’s future, from improving transparency and accountability in government, to strengthening educational opportunities for students with specialized needs and talents. I appreciate Speaker White’s confidence and leadership in creating these committees well ahead of the 2027 Session so members can thoroughly study the issues, hear from stakeholders, and develop thoughtful, conservative policy solutions that truly benefit Mississippians. I look forward to getting to work alongside my fellow committee members to help ensure Mississippi continues moving forward with commonsense reforms, fiscal responsibility, and strong educational opportunities for our students.

Thank you to Jamie Miller and the @MSGCBC for the opportunity to discuss the 2026 legislative session. We had a productive panel conversation focused on the outcomes of this year’s session and what they mean for the Mississippi Gulf Coast and particularly in areas like education, economic development, and strategic investments moving forward. I always appreciate the chance to engage directly with our business community and hear their perspectives as we prepare for the work ahead. Last year, I was proud to author and help pass HB 807, which created the Division of Autism Services within the Mississippi Department of Mental Health. Under the leadership of Director Wendy Bailey and her team, we are already beginning to see much-needed progress. With autism now affecting approximately 1 in 31 children, this was a critical step toward better coordination of services and support for Mississippi families. This is about making sure families have access to the resources they need and building a system that works. We have more to do, but this is an important start. dmh.ms.gov/service-option…

Thank you to the 122 House members that voted to prioritize Mississippi teachers, state employees, and taxpayers. House Education Chairman @robroberson43 and Reps. @KentMcCarty, @JansenOwen, and @Repkwfelsher have worked tirelessly and are to be commended. The House will not rest on the time we have been afforded here. We are going to focus on doing big things that positively impact Mississippians. To our teachers, you deserve no less and you deserve the truth. If you are an educator, or passionate about our education system, a first responder, or concerned about PERS Tier 5, read Senate Bill 2103 as amended by the House and decide for yourself if want your State Senate to deliberate, or continue with inaction. This is not about ownership or legislation being finalized in a House Bill versus a Senate bill; as the only vehicle alive now is a Senate Bill amended by the House. This is about pursuing the best policy on the table for Mississippians. In the House, Mississippians will remain the focus, not political plays.

Today the House again passed a teacher and assistant teacher pay raise by a unanimous vote of 122-0. We also passed PERS reform restoring retirement eligibility to 30 years of service for teachers and 25 years for first responders, while allowing retired teachers to return to the classroom. Mississippi values our teachers and those who protect our communities. I’m proud of the leadership shown by Speaker of the House Jason White in advancing these important reforms. The photos below shows the two vote boards from the initial pay raise on February 4 and from today’s vote. @MSHouseOfRep

At @ExcelinEd Conference and it was stated by a panelist that Mississippi is one of the best places to be for a child to learn how to read. Great testament to our teachers and common-sense education policies. @MissDeptEd #Education

Thank you to the @MissDeptEd for the opportunity to welcome the Student Advisory Council. During the Q&A, the students asked sharp questions on everything from artificial intelligence to the teacher shortage. Calling them impressive is an understatement, the future is bright! 😎

Ten years ago, Mississippi was ranked 50th for mental health. Today, we're 28th. More work to be done, but our state is making a lot of progress.
