On the 51st anniversary of the fall of Saigon, I join the Vietnamese community in a solemn day of remembrance. On this day, hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children embarked on a journey to the U.S. in search of freedom, with many rebuilding their lives in Orange County. Our Vietnamese friends and neighbors are a powerful example of resilience, transforming hardship into lasting success, strengthening our local economy, and preserving a vibrant cultural heritage through family businesses, professional services, and entrepreneurship.

The Trump Administration has a track record of undermining Americans’ civil liberties, including using federal agencies to illegally invade the privacy of American citizens. Pastor David Black, an American citizen, was struck by pepper-ball rounds fired by ICE agents while he was peacefully protesting outside a detention center. DHS publicly defended the agents’ actions, and President Trump is requesting MORE funding for ICE agents to continue terrorizing Americans for exercising their First Amendment rights.
