Happy Small Business Week! Having spent nearly two and a half decades building a small business, I understand firsthand the hard work, dedication, and risk-taking our entrepreneurs put in every day, and the vital role they play in driving our economy. In Congress, I’m fighting to lower taxes, cut burdensome regulations, and expand access to capital so small businesses can grow, compete, and succeed. Proud to work with my colleagues on the @HouseSmallBiz Committee to support the men and women who keep our economy moving.

Last week, Republicans acted to fund most of DHS, despite Democrat leadership’s refusal to fund the whole agency. Now, Congress has begun the reconciliation process to finish the job and resume paying our dedicated immigration and border agents. It was a pleasure attending the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce annual luncheon today. We discussed the opportunities and challenges facing local businesses and also congratulated outgoing chair Savas Logothetides for his leadership and welcomed incoming chair Michelle Lewandowski. I was glad to be joined by Representative Jamie Barton, Representative Tim Twardzik, Representative Joanne Stehr, and Schuylkill County Commissioners Larry Padora and Boots Hetherington. Former Governor Mark Schweiker also joined us as the keynote speaker. Thank you to Bob Carl and the entire Schuylkill County Chamber team for putting this event together!

This morning, I was glad to join the Back Mountain Chamber of Commerce for their Legislative Breakfast. We discussed how the Working Families Tax Cuts are improving the lives of families, seniors and small business owners, energy policy and efforts to address homelessness. I appreciate Back Mountain Chamber President Sandra Race and Vice President Jennifer Schweizer-Cebrick for hosting today’s breakfast and my fellow legislators for joining!

This weekend, Renee and Michael Wilson, the owners of Shores Sisters Farm Market in Towanda, Pennsylvania, will travel to Washington to be recognized as the 2026 National Rural Small Business of the Year by the @SBA! Their remarkable success brings great pride to our district and to the Commonwealth as a whole. Please join me in congratulating Renee, Michael, and the entire team at Shores Sisters Farm Market for this well-deserved award.

Democrat leadership has proven they have no interest in protecting the homeland, given their refusal to fund @DHSgov. Fortunately, the @HouseGOP has moved to fund DHS today, allowing us to pay our Coast Guard, TSA, FEMA, and others who work every day to protect our nation. I had a great time addressing leaders of independent community banks at the @ICBA Capital Summit. I discussed the importance of community banks as a resource for small businesses and how our work on the @FinancialCmte is strengthening America’s commitment to helping them tackle scams and fraud. This weekend’s attempted assassination is part of a disturbing pattern of violence that is completely unacceptable - and preventable if cooler heads prevail. I was steps away from President Trump when a bullet nearly took his life in Butler, Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, some in attendance weren’t so lucky. Today, I joined @NewsNationTV to remind my colleagues that their words have consequences. We can all do more to return to civil discourse.

Congress must act to ensure that American small businesses have access to the capital they need to grow. Today, I joined the @FinancialCmte to discuss the Basel III proposal, championed by Fed Vice Chair Michelle Bowman, to reduce capital requirements and burdensome regulations on regional community banks.

This morning, I had the opportunity to host my good friends Kevin O’Leary, otherwise known as “Mr. Wonderful” from Shark Tank, and Ashley Davis on Capitol Hill for a discussion on her new book, The Power Pivot. Ashley’s book focuses on how leaders respond in moments of disruption and uncertainty, and how those moments can be turned into real opportunities. She draws on experiences from the White House on 9/11 to boardrooms and advising senior leaders across government and business. Kevin brought his own perspective from building companies and making tough calls in real time, which made for a thoughtful and practical conversation about what it actually takes to pivot and move forward. Appreciate Ashley, Kevin, and everyone who joined us for a productive discussion.
