The @HouseGOP just passed H.R. 8469 — legislation that funds veterans’ care, rebuilds military readiness, and supports the families behind every service member. Families like that of Pfc. Jose Valdez, pictured here, whose sacrifice in service to his fellow soldiers will never be forgotten. Honoring those who serve, and the families who stand beside them, will always be one of my highest priorities.

Unfortunate. American tax dollars should prioritize Americans.

I had a productive conversation today in @NatResources about Utah’s water needs. I appreciate @SecretaryBurgum’s commitment to addressing issues important to Utah including the Great Salt Lake.

During National Police Week, we pause to honor the men and women in law enforcement who serve our communities with courage, integrity and sacrifice day in and day out.

One thing we have learned from 250 years of American liberty is that law and order is essential to a free society. In Congress, I remain committed to backing the blue and ensuring our officers have the resources, support and respect they need to do their job. To all the officers across Utah and throughout the country: thank you for your dedication to keeping us safe. We are deeply grateful for all you do.

Today, we recognize the love, sacrifice, and strength of mothers across the country. I’m grateful for my own mom, who instilled in me the value of hard work, faith, and service — and for my wife Katrina, whose dedication lifts our entire family every single day. To every mother across Utah and America — thank you. You are the quiet force behind so much of what is good in this country. God bless our mothers, God bless Utah, and God bless America.

Lincoln understood what every honest person in public life eventually learns: the work is too big for one person. Our own efforts are not enough. 250 years ago, the men who signed the Declaration of Independence knew it, too. They closed that document with a single line: "with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence." We must still rely on the protection of divine Providence. The right prayer today continues to be: Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. God bless Utah. God bless the United States of America.

For 250 years America has been a beacon of freedom and opportunity. I am a member of the @America250 Caucus, the largest bipartisan caucus on record, with nearly 75% of Congress signed on. It’s a reminder that our shared history can and should unite us, not just in reflection, but in responsibility. Our kids deserve to inherit a country worth celebrating for another 250 years — getting this right is a responsibility we all share.

Energy security is national security. 

Right now, we are far too dependent on China for the minerals that power our lives. We cannot let an adversary hold the keys to our supply chain. Utah is the 2nd largest copper producer in the nation. We have the resources and the legacy to lead America out of this crisis. It's time to bring this industry home and put America first.

I am a member of the Congressional Scouting Caucus. Scouting teaches us that leadership is a duty. That we must stay mentally awake, morally straight, and helpful to others at all times. I strive to bring these values to my work every day. Last weekend, I was honored to be recognized by @boyscouts alongside a remarkable group of Outstanding Eagle Scout honorees. I am privileged to carry on the scouting tradition of preparing young people to be leaders of character.

Kill the kill switch. I voted against researching and developing this technology. A government controlled kill switch undermines our core constitutional protections and opens the door to unreasonable surveillance and control.

The health of the American people is one of my highest priorities in Congress. I’m proud to be among this group and will continue working on behalf of my constituents to get this right.

Today, I voted no on the FISA reauthorization. The U.S. government should not use its intelligence gathering powers as listed under Section 702 of FISA to violate Americans' constitutional rights or improperly surveil U.S. citizens.  The intelligence community has acknowledged serious compliance failures and improper queries using American citizens’ information. While Congress has taken steps to implement reforms, more work is needed to protect Americans' privacy and uphold the Fourth amendment.

67% of America's power plants will be offline in under 20 years. Only 16% are being replaced with equivalent capacity. That's a real energy crisis in the making. It was great to be with the Utah Rural Electric Cooperative Association today to talk solutions: cut the red tape, put every domestic energy source on the table, and keep costs low for the families paying the bill. I appreciate their partnership as we work for a more affordable and reliable energy future.

1,000+ wildfires. 160,000+ acres burned. That was Utah last year. The tools to prevent this exist. The knowledge exists. The will exists. We’re ready to act, but overreaching federal regulations are standing in the way of common-sense wildfire prevention. It’s time to let states like Utah lead.

House Republicans unite in praying for those who were in harm’s way during tonight’s White House Correspondent’s Dinner. We are grateful to @SecretService and all law enforcement agencies who have put their lives in danger to protect our democracy - and those who lead it.

Yesterday I stopped by NASA HQ to sit down with @NASAAdmin on Artemis II, the Ignition announcements, and the SST budget. After sending a crew around the Moon for the first time since Apollo, the question now is what comes next and how Congress can make sure America stays ahead.
